The guest room was quiet except for their shallow breaths and the distant murmur of the party fading behind the door. Jordan looked at Sharon with a mix of longing and vulnerability that made her heart ache.

“I’m going to ask Kayleigh to marry me,” he said softly, eyes searching hers for something he wasn’t ready to say out loud.

Sharon’s breath caught. “Jordan…”

He swallowed hard. “She’s everything I should want — kind, beautiful, perfect. But before I do this, I need to know… what it would’ve been like with you. Just once.”

Her pulse quickened. Memories flooded her — late nights, stolen moments, the way his touch had once made her feel alive.

Without thinking, she let her hands slide around his neck, pulling him close. Their lips met, tentative at first, then deepening as years of silent desire spilled between them. The heat of his mouth was intoxicating, urgent.

Jordan’s hands trembled as they traced the curve of her waist, fingers lingering at the hem of her dress. With a hesitant motion, he lifted it just enough to reveal the delicate lace of her underwear.

“Tell me if you want me to stop,” he whispered.

Sharon’s voice was low, a mixture of challenge and invitation. “Don’t stop. Just… not too far.”
