High School Teacher

Unlike a lot of the other hot blonde girls, Jessica had always been a bit of a nerd. This was especially true when it came to history. She read every book about Roman, Chinese, and American history she could get her hands on as a kid. She also loved kids. You might even say she had baby fever. This had made it easy for Jessica to pick a career.

She went to college to study history and education. She started her first real teaching job out of college a few weeks ago. Jessica was the new history teacher at a local highschool. She loved her job very much. It reaffirmed in her mind that she really wanted to have kids of her own some day. That was one of the reasons she and John had their fight. She had asked him when he wanted to start a family now that they were engaged. Jessica had always been under the impression that John wanted to have kids as much as she did, but she was wrong. He finally confessed that he didn’t want to have kids at all, and she hit the roof.

Jessica shook her head. None of that mattered now. She and John were still young and not even married yet. There would be plenty of time to sort all that out later. She glanced through her closet to pick out an outfit.

Jessica chose a white flowing skirt that came down just far enough to be professional. Then came a red sleeveless blouse and black flats. She did her hair up in a loose ponytail. Letting a few delicate golden locks fall around her ears. Some light make up later, and she was good to go.

The apartment was empty when Jessica left the bathroom. Did John just leave without even talking to me? She brought out her phone and sent John a short text apologizing for sleeping in. Then she was off.

The warm spring air of the city felt good as Jessica walked the block up to the subway station. She breathed in deeply and felt her anxiety melt away a little. She stopped just long enough to grab a bagel from the corner store; then descended down into the subway station. The trip out to her high school was a little long, but Jessica was able to find a seat. She popped in her ear buds and saw that she had a text from her best friend Emma.

“Hey bitch! Let me know how it went with John!”

Jessica smiled. She loved Emma. It was good knowing someone always had her back. She quickly texted her back.

“Not well. Didn’t eat dinner. I’ll explain after school. How was your night? Didn’t you say you had a date?”

“Ya. Really cute guy. Took me out to a great restaurant. Probably gonna see him again.”

“That’s it?” Jessica was surprised. It wasn’t like Emma to end a date after dinner.

“I’ll tell you the rest later LOL.” Emma followed that up with a list of emojis including an eggplant. Jessica rolled her eyes.

Not long after that, Jessica was sitting at her desk looking over her notes. The first period bell rang, and her students began to file in.
