Hide and Seek

Slowly you opened your eyes, as the early morning sunlight shone on your face. God. You felt awful, your head hurted like hell... and what was this strange dream you had? You were at Jessica's, and-

No. No... you were through this. This was no dream, it was-

You leap off your bed in panic. Why were you back home? Why were you back at all? You didn't think you would ever see the light of day again after what had happened at Jimmy's, yet here you were. And unlike last time, you were alone. You listened as the birds chirped outside. Everything was... eerily peaceful. Why would the imposter let you go like that?

Your questions would be answered when you noticed a note on your nightstand, next to your phone.

Slowly and cautiously you pick it up, reading opening the message on it. It was a simple text written in your own handwriting, which made it all the more creepier. "Open your Camera roll :)"

You gulp. You were afraid to follow, but you needed answers. And you really didn't like where this was going.

Catiously you open your phone up, looking in your camera roll as instructions. And you aren't exactly pleased with what you find. It is a video of yourself, one which you don't have a clue of making. It could only mean one thing.

You press the play button.

"Good morning David. Sleep tight?" It was surreal. Your own voice spoke, the face moved, but the word's weren't yours.

You shake. The creep's cheeriness making you feel all the more uncomfortable.

"You're probably wondering why I brought you back." You video copy ponders, a devilish grin plastered over his face. "Well, It's simple; you entertain me. I was honestly a bit impressed by your efforts to escape me, despite how feeble and useless those were. Your readiness to 'do the right thing' and your determination to somehow beat me are adorable. And since you possess no real threat to me, I decided to amuse that possibility and play a little game"

You gulp, pausing the video for a moment to take it in. It was too much. You continue.

"I took over the life of one person who is close to you. One I would enjoy, and one I'm rather interested in keeping. A life I will slowly ruin to my pleasure. You have two options. You could give up, and go back to living your normal life. Burdened with the knowledge that someone you love is dead, replaced by ME, with their life slowly eaten away. Or do what we both know you would and attempt to go after me. And since I much rather have that second option, here's a little incentive. In the second drawer you would find two pens."

You pause and open it, and as suggested there are two of the creepy pen-like machines in there. One is the black one you know all too well, and the other looks similar, but is brown instead. You unpause.

"You may recognize these pens. One I used to hunt you, and you know the abilities of pretty well. But the other gives you access to your victim's memories. You are free to use them to get to me, since that is the only way for you to find me.

And since I do want you to find me, I'll notify you that the clue is already in this video. Anyway, Good luck!"
