Her Response

Chapter 44 by Fr0sty

H: I don't know what to say.

E: Well thats a first. :P

Ethan tacked the smiley on at the last second, hoping to try and keep the mood civil.

H: Well somebody had to keep the conversation going.

E: I kept up my end fine.

H: Suuuuure you did.

Snorting softly, Ethan took a moment to consider his response.

E: Your not acting like somebody looking for forgiveness.

H: And how should I be acting then?

E: Idk. Nice.

H: I’ve been plenty nice. I didn't even mention your use of the word ‘your’.

Ethan looks up a few lines and frowns.

E: You have plenty of spelling errors yourself miss.

H: Only when I’m mad or typing fast.

E: Well, maybe I’m mad or typing fast.

H: That’s fair…

Ethan sighs. For a moment there, he forgot he was supposed to be mad.

E: I don’t want to be mad. But I don’t think I’m ready to not be.

H: I understand. I just want to try and sort this out. Maybe we can meet for coffee?

Ethan raises his brow and purses his lips, a moment of confusion that quickly turns to realization: He hasn't told her yet.

Sighing, Ethan starts building a wall of text, explaining his current, and likely set for the foreseeable future, arrangement.

H: Jesus. Is there running water?

E: Wat. Yeah. It’s the country, not the middle of nowhere.

H: I just googled it. It’s pretty fucking close to the middle. Why didn't you tell me you were moving out there?

E: It was fast. And we weren't exactly talking.

H: Fair. Well is the house big at least?

Considering how to answer, Ethan steps outside for a moment, snapping a quick picture of the house and sending it over.

H: Oh. Wow. It is big.

H: Dat lawn tho. Lol.

E: I’m going to get to it. I’ve been cleaning the inside all day.

H: You cleaning? Where was that skillset with your dorm room?

E: Hush. I know. But it’s just me so I have to.

The fast string of replies stops, Ethan waiting a long time before the dots appear.

H: Sorry. Talk later? About to get in the car.

E: Kk.

Ethan pockets his phone, letting out a small sigh. Talking like that was comforting, and almost made him forget about everything.

Almost.
