He agrees to work with the AI

Jack looked carefully at the hologram. He wasn’t sure if it was completely honest to him, especially when it came to its intentions. But on the other hand, this whole place seemed to be rather special and powerful.

“Okay,” he said. “But if you try to trick me …”

“That is an unnecessary concern,” the AI said. “You won’t be disappointed.”

For a moment neither of them said something, filling the room with an awkward silence. “Now what?” Jack asked. “What can this place do?”

“The device has only a very limited functionality,” the AI said. “We lack some staff.”

“Okay,” Jack said. “Where do we get someone?”

“I am afraid that this is something you need to do.”

“Me?”

“The holographic projection system is restricting me to the device.”

“Okay, okay,” Jack said, feeling that this was more about him doing the work the AI needed to be done. Hopefully something would come out from this for him. “What do you need me to do?”

“I accessed the internet and already found a suitable scientist, who is working here in town. You need to convince her to work for us.”

“What do you mean by convince? I can’t just walk to that scientist and say that I need someone to help me with a secret base in the mountains.”

“Your point is valid,” the AI said and behind Jack a compartment opened. “Gladly the device is equipped to handle such things. This is a MC100 control collar and a stun gun STG12X. The collar puts the subject under temporary control. Send her here and we can use the device’s equipment to program her further.”

Jack nodded. He wasn’t sure about how this felt but finally he grabbed both items. “Who is this scientist?”

“I already send information to your mobile phone,” the AI said. “While you are gone, I will boot up further areas of the device.”
