Harmony

Harmony was laying down with her back leaning against the giant trunk of the tree. The few rays of sunlight that was escaping between the leaves were just enough to highlight all of her best features.

Noticing that her eyes were shut, you took the time to gaze at the beauty that you are witnessing. It was the first time you saw her so relaxed. 'That's new', you thought to yourself.

Recalling the 'incident' that you from class earlier, you wanted to apologize to her. You thought up a chain of lame excuses and explanations. After a few minutes of rearranging your thoughts you decide to walk towards her.

It felt like you were walking on the middle of an ice cold blizzard. With a few moments of hesitation you finally came close enough so that she can hear you.

"Hello... I was just wondering...." you pause as you notice her wake up. You thought to yourself, 'God's how can a woman like this be mean and really really cute at the same time'.

She was initially shocked to see you, then her cute innocent demeanor quickly changed to the usual mean state.

"Oh.. it's just you bird brain, what ever do you want with me?" She asked dryly.

"I was just wondering back when we were paired at class.... - " You stopped when she cut you off.

"Oh, right, that.. don't worry about it, I am not surprised, coming from a birdbrain like you.."

You regretfully said "Oh.. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to... - " She cut you off again

"Riiiight. Like you didn't mean to accept Ohpelia's contract.. or ever moment after that. I guess boys will be boys after all... I'm not surprised that you fell for it hook line and sinker"

Thinking to yourself, 'I really screwed this up didn't I... damn.. -' You were shocked to hear her voice inside your head.

'What the hell? Since when did this thing become automatic.' She asked clearly annoyed.

'Well, I don't know.. but.. - ' Again cutting you off even in thought.

'But what! what are you gonna do now? Project your dirty thoughts into me again? You perverted birdbrain!'

Your mind went blank as you too looked at each other for quite some time.

Harmony broke the silence and said, 'You do know what you are getting yourself into right? It's a shame, you of all people, all that magical talent gone to waste'

Shocked about what you are hearing, 'What do you mean? I do know that she has a fiance, but what does it have to do with magic? What we have is purely physical in nature.'

'Oh nothing' she said nonchalantly.

'Is there something you are not telling me?' You asked annoyed and worried.

After a long pause the bell rang putting an end to the awkward silence. A lot of students now head to their next periods. You were about to walk away when you hear her voice in your head.

'Fine, I'll help you out, don't think of it as me being nice. This school needs more students with high magical ability, it would be a waste if you were to fall prey in her hands.'

You notice Ophelia coming on one of the hallways, clearly she was looking for someone.

'Kneel you bird brain, and repeat aloud what I am about to tell you'.

You promptly knelt in front of her as she stood towering above you. You can't help but notice every student walking towards their periods stop and stare at the both of you. Even catching Ophelia's attention.

You said back to her everything that she was telepathically communicating. "My lady, oh beautiful one. I am merely a commoner in your queenly presence. Please allow this commoner to earn your heart".

She held out her hand and said in response. "Your courage astounds me young sorcerer. For that I will give you a chance."

'Now kiss my hand you birdbrain.'

You kiss her hand and you thought to yourself. 'What have I gotten myself into - '

And again cutting you off 'man up you birdbrain, It's for your own good. Your life may depend on it.'

When you kissed her hand, the crowd that was watching you went wild with cheers. Others shouted words of praise like "Strongest couple of the century", "Most magical pairing". Others were clearly quite annoyed that you got a chance with the woman they have been pining for.

Finally you caught the piercing gaze of Ophelia with an evil grin on her face.
