Gus makes the Kryptonite

Gus had got to work immediately and again using satellites was able to find the location of Krypton in space but that didn't help him back on earth the plan was to recreate the substance after analysing it, analysis showed KRYPTONITE. AN INTENSE FUSION OF: PLUTONIUM ... 15.08%, TANTALUM... 18.06%, XENON... 27.71%, PROMETHIUM... 24.02%, DIALIUM... 10.48%, MERCURY... 4.08%, UNKNOWN 0.57%. "UNKNOWN WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" shouts Gus "The Boss is gonna kill me" he looks around his desk and then reaches into his pocket for a cigarette noting Tar in the pack and types in Tar 0.57% "What's the worst that can happen?".

Days passed and one of Webster's R&D scientists brings the finished article into the room it had a beautiful glow except it was Red, Gus' jaw dropped "It's supposed to be Green WHY THE HELL IS IT RED?" shouted Ross, Gus stammers "I....I don't know man I followed the recipe perfectly" Lorelei smiles "There's no harm in trying it is there sweetie? Besides I like it, it matches my nails", Ross calms down "Yes we'll try it but your ass is on the line Gus I don't accept failure and you've already failed me once...now how do we give it Superman", Vera interjects "I was thinking about this we stage an accident and when Superman arrives to save me I infect him then and there..." Lorelei cuts her off "We want him to show up right? Who's coming to save her? You need to send me if he's anything like the rest of the men in this town he'll be eating the kryptonite out of my hands" Vera scowls "She has a point" says Ross.

The trap is set at one of Websco warehouses Lorelei and Ross arrive, "You know the plan right?", Lorelei trying to play it cool but clearly uncomfortable "Are you sure about this Ross...I mean fire? What if he doesn't show up?" Ross smiles "then I have a personal fire crew on standby" she could tell he was lying through hiss teeth but she could use this to her own benefit, Ross had promised a bundle of shares if she can take out Superman. Ross lights a fire in the warehouse and Lorelei picks up her handbag holding the kryptonite and begins to scream for help "SUPERMAN PLEASE HELP ME! THERES A FIRE, PLEASE SUPERMAN!" Some distance away Superman hears the screams and hones in blowing the fire out and escorting Lorelei out of the building "What happened in there Miss are you ok?" Asks Superman, Lorelei clings to his body "I'm ok now, I don't know what happened I wa just standing there and suddenly there was a fire" she's pressing herself closer to him the bag literally touching him she's waiting for him to keel over or start being sick or anything but there's nothing just a smile on his face "Hey why don't I take you home?" Lorelei accepts "Sure thing Honey" she hops into his arms, wraps her arms and the bag around his neck still no effect "I live in the penthouse above Webco industries" Superman flies into the night seconds later they land on the terrace.

"Thank you Superman" she approaches "Would you like to come in for a cup of coffee? Superman stares for a second then answers "I shouldn't but why not..." They enter the penthouse, Lorelei removes her jacket exposing a low cut top, Superman isn't hiding the fact staring at her lustfully, "Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?" Lorelei is shocked but plays it cool "I've had my share of admirers" she turns on the radio as she brews the coffee a news report hits reporting a bridge collapsing in Smallville Lorelei looks at him "isn't that your cue?" Superman stared at her, but didn't move. "There's no rush," he said, and Lorelei stopped, surprised "But the bridge-", "Don't I always get there in time?" He smiled and patted the sofa. "Come on, relax." His arm came up around her, Lorelei cuddled in the two staring intently into each others eyes both waiting for the other to make a move like a game of sexual chess when Superman hears more about the bridge he breaks eye contact "The bridge? I'd better go" and he wooshes out of the room. Lorelei pulls the Red Kryptonite out of her bag and admires it.

Just as the radio said, a big tank truck has turned over on its side. DANGER--ACID is painted on the tank, which has sprung a considerable leak from a crack in the side. Acid is trickling out with accompanying hissing steam and bubbling corrosion effects. An emergency crew is doing its best, trying to spray water from a hose to keep the acid from eating away the pilings but the acid drips onto the support system of the bridge and is eating the old metal away, the bridge starts to sway dangerously and the pilings begin to buckle. Ropes have been attached to the bridge structure, and emergency crews are holding fast on shore many of them hold wet cloths over their faces to protect them from the terrible acid fumes. Smoke curls back in their faces as they valiantly try to stem the inevitable. "It won't hold! It's going!" Someone shouts, the Sheriff (into a megaphone) "Clear the area! Clear the area!" There's a deep rumbling as the bridge starts to go. "Get down!" Someone shouts the bridge sways precipitously, then the pilings crack and crumble and the bridge collapses, taking the tanker with it. Suddenly flying overhead it's Superman...he lands and looks at where the bridge used to be "What can I do to help?" He asks the Sheriff "Not much of anything now If only you'd got here a few minutes ago." He looks away from their eyes he seems troubled, puzzled. How could this have happened?

Back in the penthouse Lorelei is sat down watching this all play out on thew news reports she picks up the Kryptonite and starts to think a smile begins to unfold on her beautiful face as she carefully places the Kryptonite down the phone rings it's Ross "Is he dead?" "It didn't work" she answers, Ross furious "I asked Gus to do one simple thing KILL SUPERMAN and he couldn't even do that..." He hangs up the phone.
