Group Dinner
"Wow," Douglas observed. "You've really done a lot with the place."
It was his first time in his old home since the divorce. There was a concentration of African and African American art adorning the walls now. Faith was watching the kids, and Elizabeth had cooked a fine soul food dinner for the visiting couple. They ate, watched a movie, and played some billiards in the game room.
"So, we asked you here for a reason," Elizabeth said. "I know when we originally asked you both to take care of Katie and Aaron and Emily it was because this home wasn't stable. But it is now ..."
"But we've really grown close to the kids ..." Mira said warily.
"I know that," Elizabeth said. "And I've been struggling with what to do. But I think the only answer is for you both to move in with us. We've got plenty of room. And we can have some fun together, and it'll be great for the kids."
"What do you think?" Mira asked Douglas. Douglas looked down for a moment, thinking about his answer.
