Grab a snack

"Hey, I'm gonna go grab a snack," Zack said, trying to break the awkward silence that followed his brief conversation with Chloe.

She looked up from her suitcase and flashed him a quick smile as if no thought had even crossed her mind. Maybe it hadn't. "I'm gonna jump in the shower, I always feel a bit grimy after traveling, you know?"

Leaving the Redhead behind, he stepped out into the living room, where Gavin sat alone on the sofa, awkwardly hunched over a game on his phone. This was his usual pose, but he wore a dark glare that seemed out of place on his usually cheerful face.

"Hey, Gav, what's up? Kurt giving you trouble?" Zack asked, taking a block of cheese from the fridge.

Gavin snorted derisively. "That guy's a creep! He won't stop talking about how hot all the girls are... You know the first thing he did when we unpacked?"

Zack shrugged in between buttering two slices of bread.

"He whipped out a copy of Playboy. Asked if I want to share – because they're the 'only tits I'm gonna see any time soon'. He's probably in there right now **** the chicken, I figured I'd leave him to it."

"Wow, dude, that's rough. Better you than one of the girls, though, I guess. Imagine poor Chloe having to sleep in the same room as him."

"I take it you don't fancy a swap then?" Gavin asked with a wry smile and a slight shrug.

"Sorry bro."
