Chapter 12 by Tubzyphil123 Tubzyphil123

What Should Akira Do?

Go With Heath and Ginny

After briefly thinking about his options, Akira knew there wasn't really a choice. If he stayed in Baxton, he wouldn't have a clue on what to do next. At least if he travelled with Heath and Ginny for a while, he could learn a little more about this world, maybe even learn where Almantis is.

"Alright" Akira said, with a grin on his face. "I'll come with you, but I have a condition".

Heath simply nodded in recognition.

"I'll help you however I'm able too, but I am still on sort of quest of my own" Akira told them.

"I thought you had no memories from before the forest?" Ginny asked looking puzzled.

"No I still don't have any memories from before then, but from the moment I woke up, there was something that I knew I knew I had to do".

"And what might that be?" Heath asked.

"Do either of you know of a place called Almantis?"

The moment the name left Akira's lips, both Heath and Ginny's eyes opened wide. They stood there in shock for a moment.

"Why are you looking for Almantis?" Heath asked, eyes still bulging from his head.

Akira wondered weather he should tell them about the stranger who saved his life. Ultimately he decided to give them a very brief run down.

"Well, before I woke up, I heard a woman's voice" Akira began, remembering back to the void he thought he would never leave. "At first she just whispered "Find me" but eventually, she began saying "Find me in Almatis Akira". I have no idea who it was, but I just know that eventually, I need to find wherever Almantis is"

Heath and Ginny exchanged glances before looking back at Akira.

"Akira" Ginny said, looking sad for some reason. "Almantis has been lost for a generations"

"I don't understand. What do you mean lost?" Akira asked Ginny.

"There is one kingdom that has been around longer than any other known. When it was still standing, the people referred to it as Almantis. It was a vast kingdom, one of the largest ever known. It housed twelve regions within it's borders and it was the first kingdom to truly rule in harmony between peace and power. Once other nations began forming, none dared to antagonise Almantis or risk being wiped from the map. After one thousand years of the most pure peace known to man and fey alike, a darkness swept across the land. It's rumoured to have been a dark mage of sorts. Whatever it was, it spread across Almantis within a few days. It consumed everything it came across. Before long, new structures began forming and new creatures were spotted trying to enter other lands. Those creatures were orcs. It's been hundreds of years since that all started and between the lands of men and fey, we all try to hold back the orc plague. Not all were so lucky though. Two of the twelve other kingdoms have fallen to the plague of the orcs, leaving us with ten separated kingdoms, fighting against the strength of three combined. The lands conquered by them, we now only refer to as "The Dark Lands", vile places that no where dares to step foot into".

After Ginny's long explanation, Akira was once again stuck in thought. He didn't get long to think though as the gates of Baxton began to creak open and the army Akira was now a part of began to move out. Neither Heath nor Ginny said another word to Akira, they let him think about what they had told him. Akira was at a complete loss. Why would the person he was meant to rescue, reside in a monstrous land such as that? Why had she saved someone like Akira to send out on this quest? How could he ever possibly help someone, who was so utterly unreachable? All these questions and more rolled around in Akira head. Without even realising it, Akira had begun walking alongside Ginny and the rest of the army. Periodically Ginny would look down at Akira, wondering if she should say something, but never parting her lips. Akira seriously wished he could talk to Feya right now. That's when a thought hit Akira.

"Ginny, why do humans not like the fey?"

Ginny taken aback by Akira's questioning, straightened herself up before responding.

"Not all humans dislike the fey. There has just been a lot of conflict in the past between us both which neither side came out on top. Most humans in fact, fear the fey simply because of the abilities they can wield. Most humans could never dream of possessing abilities like the fey do and most fey squander there abilities on doing silly things".

"Do you fear the fey?" Akira asked, wondering if he could ever bring Feya out of his backpack.

"I can't lie, some fey worry me. There are some fey abilities that could topple a town in a matter of minutes. Luckily, those who could do that, tend to rule nations and have to control their abilities in case they warrant all out war. There are some fey however, that intrigue me".

"What do you mean?" Akira asked, seriously hoping Ginny would like Feya.

"I have witnessed the kindness of some fey in the past. Healers who travel from town to town, offering their aid simply because they can. There are many mystical abilities the fey control and I would be interested in seeing them up close".

Akira thought for a moment. He desperately wanted someone else who could talk to Feya. He worried she might get lonely only ever talking to him.

"Ginny, theoretically, if I told you I knew of one of those kind fey nearby, what would you do?"

Ginny over at Akira with a piercing glare.

"Well, theoretically, I would advice you to keep your "friend" away from the others, they might not be as open minded as I am. Me however, I would be interested in meeting this fey".

Akira smiled uncontrollably. He signalled Ginny to follow him right to the back of the group so they could talk alone. Once he knew nobody else was listening, he took off his backpack and held it in front of him. He opened it up and Feya's head nervously poked out to look at Ginny. Ginny simply stared for a moment. Akira didn't know if it was shock or anger.

"Akira, why do you have a pixie in your backpack?" She finally asked.

"Her name is Feya, she was apparently sent to aid me in finding Almantis"

Ginny's eyes once again bulged.

"She's a summon isn't she?" She asked.

"Yeh...I am" Feya nervously spoke.

"No need to fear little pixie, I will bring you no harm". Ginny said as she held out a finger for Feya took shake. "I did think I heard you talking to someone the day we got attacked on the road, now I assume it was this little one".

Akira and Feya both nodded. Akira was glad Feya now had someone else to talk to. Feya also seemed to really like Ginny. The three of them all chatted to each other for a short while. It was mostly Ginny questioning Feya about herself, which Feya couldn't answer most of the questions since she simply didn't know. Feya told Ginny about her investigation ability and Ginny seemed genuinely impressed about an ability that Akira found rather simple. Neither Akira nor Feya decided to tell Ginny about Akira's ability. Akira wanted to at first but hearing Ginny talk about how most human's never get abilities, he thought it best to keep to himself. AFter around ten minutes of talk and travel the group heard a shout from further down the road.

"HOLD"
