Gibbon (Philip Quinn)

BASICS: 20 years old; 5’8”; 155 pounds; blue eyes; dark blonde hair. Resembles a young Alan Tudyk.

POWERS: Essentially, he’s got the same powers as Spider-Man, minus the web-shooters. (Every hero universe needs at least ONE Spidey knockoff, right?)

  • Enhanced strength, speed, agility, jumping, reflexes, stamina and durability.
  • The ability to cling to almost any surface.
  • A low-level precognition ability to sense danger that he refers to as “hyper-reflexes”.

The code-name is a reference to gibbons being the best climbers in the ape family.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE:

  • Gibbon’s mask has night vision and communication abilities, as well as a 2-hour oxygen supply/air filter.
  • The gloves can trigger an “electro-punch”; boots have noise-canceling materials in the soles.
  • He also carries a classic handheld grapple gun, with smoke capsules and bolas as backup.

POWER SOURCE: First started sparking at 14 years old (brief bursts of speed and strength, slowly becoming more frequent). Originally assumed he was a mutant; turns out his mom (and numerous others) were used as guinea pigs without their knowledge or consent for an experimental **** designed by The Foundry (Phil only learned this a year and a half ago, when his powers started “flickering”, and got help from Dr. Julian Royal).

BACKGROUND: Former troublemaker. Started straightening up after his powers emerged. During his first couple of weeks in a homemade costume, when attempting to stop a robbery, the would-be victim, Donna Tyler, a retired government agent, handled the situation on her own. She took on Philip as a “student” (similar to Bruce Wayne/Terry McGinnis).

Donna helped Philip learn the full extent of his powers, and after six months of training/“interning”, provided him with the uniform above as a “graduation gift”.

For nearly four years, Gibbon’s been spotted in action, primarily in the Riverside neighborhood and along the waterfronts of Century City.
