With all of us seated and discussing the food, I figured we should start off strong. The waitress came to take our drink orders, and after a round of waters and an iced tea for Melody, I added, "Oh and how about some shots?"
Taylor lit up. "Oh fuck yeah girl, now we're talking. Pre-game it up!"
By contrast, Monica looked a little unsure. She looked at her sister and then said, "Oh I dunno, I'm pretty lightweight..."
Melody quickly added, "Yes, and also the Bible warns against drunkenness."
Christy nearly spit out her water when she heard Melody quote the Bible. "Oh my god, she did not just say that."
I laughed along, causing Melody to fold her arms in frustration. "Come on, Monica, it's a Friday night and you and Melody are going to ditch us right after this. So let's have a little fun, and then you can get back to your sister's night!"
Monica thought for a second before saying, "Alright alright, just one though."
"Hell yeah!" Taylor added.
After checking the IDs, we ended up getting three tequila shots with lime, which came out quickly to the table. Melody glared at the glasses as if they were the apple from Eden, destined to doom humanity. Still, I could see her eyes soften, as though she was considering temptation.
The three of us of drinking age prepared our limes and held up our glasses. Despite the casual night, I felt oddly compelled to lead the toast, as it would set the tone for the rest of the night.
