Chapter 9

What do you do with Sullivan and Indigo's relationship next?
Get details.
"Appreciate the input Yu, but I think I'm okay for now," you say. "Get yourself a drink and enjoy the party."
Yu has her reservations but seems relieved to be free of her obligation to help you do things she might feel weird about. She goes out on the floor to meet up with Jane.
With Yu gone, you turn your attention to the couple. "I think we should talk somewhere private. I want to hear about you two. See how my relationship's doing," you say.
"Sure thing dude," says Sullivan, chipper as ever.
"Thanks for checking up on us," Indigo agrees.
Sullivan helps Indigo off the counter, and then you lead the pair upstairs, past the occupied bathroom where Pearl's probably camping out, and into the master bedroom.
You have Sullivan close the door behind you. There must be some soundproofing to the room, because the blaring music and conversation of the crowd is reduced to a dull bass beat and a low buzz of background noise.
When you're alone, you tell Sullivan and Indigo to sit down on the edge of the bed and start popping questions to see how far this really goes.
"Have you two ever had sex?" you ask.
Indigo nods.
"What kind of question is that?" asks Sullivan, laughing. "Course we've done it. I know you're dense but I thought you were reading between the lines."
"Just asking," you say. "How many times?"
"I'm not sure," says Sullivan, his brow furrowing as he looks back through his recollections.
"Four times," Indigo reports, without hesitation, or even embarrassment.
Interesting.
"You were counting?" asks your friend. He's surprised at the quick answer.
"Sort of," says Indigo, seeming a bit sheepish now. "Four times isn't that many. You're the first boy I ever slept with. It was different every time!"
Sullivan is mollified by the explanation and turns to you with a suggestive grin. "What can I say, I like to mix it up."
"Nice." You bump fists with Sullivan, while Indigo becomes hopelessly more embarassed. "Next question. Do you two love each other?"
"Of course we love each other," says Sullivan, his voice adamant. "I love Indigo 100%."
However, Indigo takes another second to choose her words. She worries her hands in her lap, and casts a nervous glance to her boyfriend. "I um, I'm not sure," she says guiltily. "I don't think so."
This was not the answer Sullivan expected to hear.
"What!? Indy, you told me -"
"I thought maybe I did," says Indigo, chagrined. "You were touching me and saying things and - it just came out. I'm sorry, I'm still figuring things out!"
Sullivan shakes his head and grabs Indigo's hands. "We're already out of school. You're telling me you still don't know about us? What about our plans?"
"Did we have plans?" asks Indigo, shaking her head quickly. "We were just talking! Throwing ideas around! You said you wanted to play for the Mets!"
"We were talking real plans between the daydreams," Sullivan says, as if he says this with enough conviction, it'll persuade Indigo of his version of events.
Indigo prepares to answer, her eyes animated.
You jump in before this gets any more out of hand. "Okay okay, time out," you say, making a 'T' with your hands. "It sounds like we need to figure some things out here. We can all agree it's my relationship, yeah?"
Indigo nods, looking sad, but hopeful. "Yes."
"Yeah man, it's yours. No question," says Sullivan, down on himself from finding out Indigo didn't feel the way about him that he thought she did.
"What are your real plans for my relationship?" you ask. "One at a time."
"Make it work long-distance," says Sullivan, first. "Eventually get married."
"Break up after we get to college," admits Indigo, second. "Sullivan's a sweet guy, I don't want him hung up on me forever."
Ouch. Brutal, but fair. Ripping off the bandaid can hurt less than peeling it off one inch at a time.
Information before you, you consider the problem. You could give the relationship back to Sullivan and Indigo, directing them to figure this out right now. Or you could try to fix it yourself. But whose side would you take? Sullivan's your best friend, sure, but Indigo's a sweet girl, and a friend. Is there a compromise? But if their relationship's not going anywhere good, maybe you should just put it out of its misery right now, for both their sakes?
Perhaps it'd be better to take a more active role in their relationship yourself? No, no, that's crazy.
Or is it...?

These branching stories are going to have 3 very simple premises: 1) You exist in a world where your character AND ONLY your character gets to have sex with whatever group or groups of people you choose wherever and whenever he or she desires. 2) The circumstances under which he or she can have sex with that group can be specified generally or specifically. 3) The response of the people you have sex with and/or the general public can be chosen.
