Gem of Feminity (Fantasy)

John got laid off during the pandemic. Since then he made most of his income doing gig economy slop jobs. Mostly deliveries. It was this particular day that his life (and many others) would be changed forever.

John loved in Queen City for a few years. His one room apartment was small, but home. The bed only a few feet from his fridge and desk. He was hard up for work, flicking through the various gig job apps waiting for something that's pay well. When a special notification interrupted his search: "Delivery Notice: Package delivered."

John sighed. He wasn't in the habit of ordering stuff online anymore. He opened his front door and found a non-descript brown package with his address on it. The return address didn't ring any bells for where it came from.

He took it in, closed the door and plopped down at his desk where he tore the packaging and slid out a small ornate wooden box. The symbol at the top some astrology looking pictogram. He lift the lid revealing a pink gemstone. The precious stone was big enough that it's probably look right at home as an amulet or pendant necklace.

He picked it up looking at the way his desk light caused it to shimmer.
