Gabby's Second Date Part 5

After a long date, Gabby and Mike were finally back in Mike's room. The two of them came into the room laughing about something while holding hands.

"I love you so much," said Gabby.

"I love you too," said Mike. The two leaned in close and shared a tender kiss. Once they pulled away, there was clear conflict in Gabby's eyes.

"Baby, what's wrong?" asked Mike as he cupped her cheek.

"I'm just a little confused is all. I've always considered myself straight, but kissing you as a girl feels just as right as kissing you as a boy. I don't know if it's just because you're you, or because I'm not as straight as I thought I was," she said.

"I can't answer that for you. I didn't really want to bring it up, but you really need to talk to Ashley," said Mike. As soon as Mike mentioned that, she deflated completely.

"I know. I really messed up. I was so caught up in myself that I didn't even notice her feelings for me. Hell, it took me being afraid you'd kill yourself to realize I had feelings for you," she said.

"I wasn't going to kill myself, Gabby. A part of me always knew that you wouldn't abandon me. And I know that you won't abandon Ashley either," he said gently.

"But I was ready to. I'm a terrible friend," said Gabby, tears welling up in her eyes. Mike moved them over to the bed and wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm not going to pretend that you're perfect, because you're not. No one is. But you're not a terrible friend. You're just a flawed person," he said.

They stayed like that for a while, even after Gabby stopped crying. Eventually, she was falling asleep.

"I love you," she said, before she closed her eyes.

...

Mike, however, didn't fall asleep right away. In fact, he was up for hours, lost in thought.

Not only was tomorrow the challenge, but it was also his date night with Penny.

And he was NOT looking forward to that.
