Chapter 4
by Spioch
Tell me. Do you think your luck is changing?
Future is looking bright. So let's take a walk.
You took one more look at the room and decided - fuck it - you are not sleeping in this mess. At least you'll try to avoid that. Having no money you figured your best bet will be to find a company of a stranger for a night. And have a few drinks before that.
You left the room after locking up and headed out.
Walking through the narrow streets of the old capital of the European country was enjoyable. Despite the cobblestones beneath your feet being slick with rain, making each step perilous. The ancient buildings towered above you, reaching towards the sky. They seemed taller than they were because of how cramped they were. A gentle breeze carried the not-so-pleasant smells of beer, ****, and vomit. The evening parties were already in full swing. You could hear the cacophony of music from every hole in the wall you passed.
The streets were lined with small shops and cafes, and you lingered in front of some, promising yourself to visit them when your purse will be full while steadily continuing towards the market square. You passed centuries-old buildings with faded murals on the walls, some covered in quite fresh graffiti.
You kept walking until you reached the main market, where you were greeted by an open square full of life. Street performers, musicians, and vendors selling snacks to drunk tourists and locals alike. All around you, people were enjoying the warm summer night, laughing and conversing in different languages.
The walk raised your spirits significantly. After an hour you found what you were looking for. Four-star hotel with a restaurant and bar. You walked in and soaked in the ambiance while looking around. Soft music from a live jazz band filled the air, and a gentle hum of conversations provided the perfect background noise. The bar was filled with people dressed to the nines, enjoying drinks and hors d'oeuvres.
The velvet chairs, leather couches, and polished wooden tables made the bar feel luxuriously inviting. Waiters in crisp black and white uniforms moved gracefully between tables, delivering drinks and food. The bar had a warm and inviting glow, as the soft lighting highlighted the exquisite decor.
You let the wallet take your coat. Standing still as he slid it down your arms. You acknowledged him with a slight nod and once more looked around the room. At the bar sat two gentlemen, not talking to each other though. Just sipping their drinks and watching themselves in the bar mirrors. At the very end of the bar sat an elegant woman, dressed better than you which irked you, but also meant she was probably not a hooker looking for the opportunity, but a guest.
[While this chapter has no competition. You can still thumb it. I swear. I won't mind! Plus there will be plenty of choice going forward. Check out every character closer and decide which one to approach!]
