What's next?
Freshman Ride
Moira and George walked together down the street, talking about earlier. "It's ok, G," she consoled. "I have that problem sometimes with my parents."
"Uh, what problem?" George denied. He chuckled bashfully. "My parents are busy with their jobs. It can happen."
"Not that." She stopped him abruptly by pushing at his chest. "... Look. I get that you want someone to notice your parents. To notice you." George really wanted to deny the truth, but Moira's conviction, her belief truly got under his skin. That, and her baby blues made a emotional combination. He could only sigh in resignation... She finished with, "Whatever happens, just be the best you can be."
George nodded slowly with a reassured grin. "Thanks, Mo." They made it to their stop just in time to see a big, yellow school bus arrive in front of them. As the door folded open, a trim man sat at the wheel as he let the two in. Bits of his blonde hair stuck out from underneath his white cap, and its yellow curved bill shaded over his eyes to his nose. The uniform was that of a bus driver: as white as his cap, with a bit of orange on the sides.
"Hi," George waved. "Is this the bus to Sky High?" The driver actually shushed him, harshly!
"You want villainy to know we're here?" George shook his head rapidly in response. The driver gestured over his shoulder with his thumb. "Take a seat, freshmen." He and Mo walked past him, looking for a seat.
"Charming, isn't he?" she whispered near his ear. George answered with a wry chuckle. Sarcastic. They sat in separate seats, for no single seat could accommodate them together. The bus picked up another passenger, and after the doors closed, George swore he saw the driver cock an eyebrow in the rearview mirror's reflection.
"That's all of 'em."
What's on the driver's mind?
