Chapter 7 by DRaBcommish DRaBcommish

What should she do next?

Follow them to their hideout and assess the situation

Zoe followed the young men through a series of alleyways, her mind racing. The hoodie they gave her provided some semblance of modesty, but she still felt exposed and ****. The young men seemed friendly enough, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she needed to stay alert. Trusting strangers was risky, but she felt that there was no other option.

After a few twists and turns, they arrived at a rundown building. The leader of the group unlocked the door and gestured for her to enter. Zoe hesitated for a moment before stepping inside. The interior was dimly lit and cluttered, with makeshift furniture and the smell of stale beer and smoke hanging in the air.

"Welcome to our humble abode," the leader said with a grin. "Make yourself at home."

Zoe looked around, trying to assess the situation. The young men seemed relaxed, but she couldn't let her guard down. She needed to figure out their intentions and decide her next move. The body she inhabited was exhausted, and she knew she couldn't stay on high alert forever.

"Thanks for helping me," she said, trying to sound casual. "I really appreciate it."

"No problem," the leader replied. "So, what's your story? How did you end up like this?"

Zoe hesitated. Explaining her situation was complicated, and she wasn't sure how much she could trust them. She needed to come up with a believable story, something that would buy her time and keep her safe. But as she started to speak, she accidentally let slip a crucial detail.

"I don't really know," she said, feeling the weight of their gazes on her. "I just... I woke up this morning and everything felt different. Like, the apartment I was in... it's not mine. Nothing is mine. I don't have anything that belongs to me, not even this body."

The leader's expression shifted, a mix of curiosity and incredulity. "What do you mean, 'nothing belongs to you'?" he asked.

Zoe realized her mistake but tried to recover. "It's hard to explain," she said quickly. "It's like, I just don't have ownership over anything. I'm just... here, using what I can."

The young men exchanged glances, and Zoe could sense their skepticism. She had to be careful now, to not let them see her as **** or crazy.

"Look," she continued, "I just need some time to figure things out. Can I stay here for a bit, just until I get my bearings?"

The leader nodded slowly. "Alright, you can stay for now. But we'll be keeping an eye on you."

Zoe **** a smile, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she had let too much slip.
