I'm a simple kinda guy. I went to uni, graduated, got an office job doing admin for a big business. It didn't pay much more than minimum wage but I needed some way to pay the bills...
Then one day a pad of paper slips appeared in my mailbox. The Promotion / Demotion slips. I figured they were part of some kind of advertising campaign. You know, like those letters that say "You WON!" on the envelope - but when you open them it says something like "... an exciting business opportunity. Call now!"
Except there wasn't a link to any website or company on these things. Not even a phone number or a mysterious QR code. Was it a gag gift meant for somebody else? I couldn't tell. Whatever the reason, they were mine now.
I had been on the way to work when I found them. I have a habit of checking my mail when I leave, you see. So I tossed them in with my usual files and papers for the day's business.
