Fireballs

It is probably not very creative to use fireballs, but you don’t have the time to think of something extravagant. You focus on the runes and let the magic flow, like you did it so often during your lessons. A circle of red light appears in your hand and the runes you think about rush through it. And then, with the last rune, the circle disappears and changes into a ball of hot fire, that floats a few centimeters over your hand.

The feeling is incredible like always, but you can’t enjoy it now. You need to focus and aim. Then you throw the fireball at the chimera. But the monster already knew what you were up to. It saw enough of them in its fight against Tocar. It dodges easy while running towards you. You need to be more clever. You create two new fireballs, one in each hand and throw the first one. The chimera dodges again, but this time you throw the other ball at the place where the chimera tried to get save. It is not able to dodge again, so the ball hits in at the side and covers it in fire.

At first you are happy for the hit, but then you see that the chimera put her scorpion tail between its body and your attack. The tail is hurt, but because of the insect shell it is just a minor injury. You try to make a new fireball, but the monster is too close already. You raise up your hands to protect yourself, but the chimera bumps into you like a rugby player.

You are thrown back and roll over the ground. You try to ignore the pain and get up again to continue fighting, but when you look up you already see the wide open mouth of the chimera. Your live ends as a meal for the monster. At least you die quickly, with the first bite.
