Chapter 28 by jj0445 jj0445

Continue?

Finish the Shower

The steam around both of you feels heavier somehow after Jane finally stands again.

Warm water continues rolling over your skin while her arms slide naturally around your waist beneath the spray. Damp hair clings softly against her shoulders while her cheeks stay faintly flushed from the heat and kissing.

For a few seconds, neither of you says anything.

You just hold each other there beneath the water while the sound of waves crashes faintly outside somewhere beyond the beach house.

Then eventually Jane tilts her head back slightly to look up at you again.

“You okay?” she asks softly.

You laugh quietly under your breath.

“No,” you admit honestly.

That immediately makes her grin.

“Good,” Jane murmurs teasingly before leaning up to kiss you again.

The kiss starts slow this time.

Softer than before.

Your hands settle naturally along her waist while hers drift slowly through your damp hair beneath the running water. Every little movement between you feels warm and unhurried now, the earlier tension settling gradually into something more affectionate instead of escalating farther.

A quiet sigh leaves her when your thumb brushes slowly along her hip beneath the spray.

“You know,” she murmurs softly against your mouth, “I think showering together might’ve ruined normal showers for me forever.”

You laugh quietly.

“That dramatic?”

“Mhm,” she replies immediately. “I’m never emotionally recovering from this.”

“That sounds difficult for you.”

“It is,” Jane says seriously before kissing you again.

Warm water spills steadily over both of your shoulders while the steam around the shower slowly thickens further. Her body relaxes fully against yours now, comfortable enough that the two of you eventually stop kissing entirely and just stay wrapped around each other beneath the water.

Your fingers trace absentminded patterns along her back while her cheek rests lightly against your chest.

Honestly, it feels weirdly domestic.

The kind of closeness that has nothing to do with rushing into anything.

Just comfort.

“You smell good,” Jane murmurs sleepily against your chest.

“That’s literally just shampoo.”

“Still counts,” she replies softly.

You smile while brushing damp hair away from her face.

Then eventually she groans quietly.

“Okay,” Jane sighs dramatically. “I’m becoming prune-shaped.”

“That’s probably our sign to get out.”

“Unfortunately,” she agrees.

Reluctantly, the two of you finally separate enough to actually finish showering properly. The mood stays soft afterward though, full of little touches and lingering kisses while steam fogs the mirrors around you.

At one point, Jane steals your towel immediately after drying her own hair.

“You’re unbelievable,” you laugh while reaching for it.

“I’m efficient,” she replies smugly.

“You’re evil.”

“You like it.”

Unfortunately?

She’s right again.

Eventually the two of you finally step back out into the bedroom together, warm steam drifting softly out behind you while the cool ocean air from the cracked balcony doors immediately brushes against your skin.

The room feels darker now compared to before.

Softer too.

Sunset light glows orange across the bedspread while distant waves continue crashing steadily outside.

Jane immediately climbs onto the bed afterward wearing an oversized sleep shirt and your hoodie again somehow, her damp hair spread loosely across the pillows while she stretches dramatically beneath the blankets.

“Oh my god,” she sighs happily. “This bed is incredible.”

You laugh quietly while pulling on a clean shirt and sweats nearby.

“You say that about literally every bed.”

“No,” she replies. “This one’s spiritually different.”

You shake your head while climbing onto the bed beside her.

Almost immediately she shifts closer again.

Then closer.

Until eventually one of her legs hooks loosely over yours while her head settles comfortably against your shoulder.

For a while, neither of you says anything.

The sound of the ocean fills the room softly while the remaining sunset light flickers warmly across the walls around both of you.

Then eventually Jane tilts her head slightly to look up at you again.

“You know,” she says quietly, “I’m really happy right now.”

Something about the honesty in her voice makes your chest tighten slightly.

You brush your fingers slowly through her damp hair while she continues looking at you with that softer expression she only really gets when she’s completely relaxed.

“Me too,” you admit softly.

Her smile afterward feels small.

Real.

Then she kisses your jaw once before curling closer against you beneath the blankets.

And honestly?

At this point, nowhere else in the world sounds better than staying right here with her.

────────────────────

You chose to keep the moment soft and intimate with Jane:

Relationship Status: +1%

Choosing not to fully escalate the tension leaves the evening feeling especially affectionate and emotionally close afterward.
