Episode 1 Scene 6 - The Cabin In The Park

With the others waiting back at the motel, Valentine, Joshua, Tanvi and Priyanshi, along with Mister Robinson, made their way to the cabin. Once they arrived at its approximate location, the agent cast his counter-spell and what had once been two trees, somewhat awkwardly spaced, became a luxurious wood cabin, as the air shimmered and sparkled with the change. The satyr sensed his exposure immediately and came bursting out of the cabin, ready to strike. Unfortunately for the goat man, Josh had already drawn his blade and just one clean slash across his chest was enough to send him reeling.

'Don't kill me,' he cried, struggling to raise his hands in surrender, 'you can have the sword, you don't need to kill me.'

'The sword is mine, by right,' Valentine proclaimed, somewhat startled by his own boldness. His memories seemed to be speaking through him, as the sword had been by his side in so many past lives.

The satyr flashed him a look of recognition, 'you're a Lionheart? She didn't send you, then? She hasn't found me?'

'She? You mean Valerie Dubois?'

He flinched at the name, 'yes, she came after us. She killed Oscar.'

'You killed Oscar,' Valentine replied, slightly unsure, 'you **** him and murdered him because he knew you'd stolen the sword. Just like Valerie knew, after you burned down her burlesque house and killed her daughter.'

The beast cried out at that, from a mix of the physical pain that still beset him and the anguish caused by the accusation. 'No, please, believe me, I'm not a killer. I stole the sword but I didn't set that fire. Oscar was my lover, he promised to protect me but he got cold feet. I was angry, but I didn't **** him and I certainly didn't kill him. I loved him.'

Valentine looked back at the others to see what the consensus was. Robinson clearly believed him and Joshua clearly didn't. 'Tanvi, what do you think?'

She took a while to respond, plainly deep in thought, until she was roused by the goat man's exhausted groaning. 'We're here for the sword, and he's agreed to hand it over. I think, if he'll agree to enter Mister Robinson's custody, we'll trust him for now and get him patched up.'

That satyr readily agreed and Valentine wasted no time searching for the sword. It called to him, once he was inside the cabin, and he found it beneath a floor panel. When he grasped it, a thousand scenes rushed through his mind. He grunted as an intense headache briefly came over him.

'Are you alright?' He heard Pri ask sheepishly, and he could only shake his head. She gently pried the sword from his hand and it helped. He was able to focus on the sensation of her fingers gliding over his, instead of the memories bombarding him and, once it was out of his hand, they subsided. 'Mum told me it might be too much for you, at first. You'll get used to handling magic items, though.'

'Thank you,' he said, once the pain had gone. The sight of her holding his sword, gently and reverently, was pleasant, and he allowed her to lead him away from the cabin.

They felt the satyr in the care - and custody - of Mister Robinson and then made their way back home. On the train ride over, he slept, like most of the others. His dreams were feverish but less abstract, as he hopped from one snippet of a lifetime to another, fighting and fucking and fighting some more.

Note:

The entire scene was the result of a single roll, specifically an exceptional "Kick Some Ass" roll from Joshua that benefited from his "Ancient Fighting Arts." Potentially, I could've dragged the fight out longer but I really liked the idea of this satyr running out of the cabin and just getting the wind knocked out of him immediately.
