Chapter 22

What did Rebecca roll?
Enough to retain the lead
She rolled a 3. Which meant a... Red tile! Which was.. Another mental card!
"Though luck 'Becca. That's your second mental card in a row!" Bitch gloated, a minor payback from the disrespect from earlier.
The now turned milf drew a red card and began reading it.
A mind so sharp can only get in the way
When all you ever want is to fool around every day
Fret not, the solution is quite simple though
All we need to do is make sure that your thinking is slow!
Do you continue or chicken out?
The room went grim once more. Alice, Bitch and Himari all knew what this entailed. It was obvious. Even the last change had been quite drastic for Rebecca. Had she fully heard and understood the card she never would've continued. Now more than ever she'd be likely to chicken out, surely!
"I really don't give a shit, if I can get a wish at the end none of this fucking matters anyways. No need to a whiny cunt about it, I continue!"
Oh no. That was the consensus among her friends. Alice, who now disliked her friends felt bad for her. Even Bitch's who's main contender had just signed away her brains felt bad for her friend. The previous card had done enough damage, things like consequences weren't so important to Rebecca anymore. The big question now was; How bad would she be affected? She was a pretty sharp girl already, smarter than most. Would it take this into account and only place her at the average person's intelligence or would she become a complete idiot regardless? Their answer couldn't come soon enough.
Meanwhile Rebecca was going through hell. Part of her didn't want this, it was mortified of the prospect of becoming dumber. Yet the part of her that made the decision before she could chicken out didn't care. Being dumb sounded chill. Why wouldn't be? Intelligence came with expectations and aspirations. This in turn turned to stress and worst of all; Work. The part of Rebecca which had materialized from the previous mental card despised those two things. If she could laze around all day and live off welfare or something, that'd be the life! Her intellect only got in the way of that. Either way, it was reversible at the end.
She could feel her racing mind come to a halt. Or at least it felt that way. It's like when you're driving on the freeway and you turn off. If you're used to driving 80 Miles per hour it'll feel like you're going at a snails pace when you reduce the speed to 50. She tried to think ahead, how would this affect her day to day life? The longer she thought about it the harder it became. Long term thinking became nearly impossible. Trying to predict what consequences something might have over time? Impossible now. She stood up, trying to get her bearings. She looked around at her friends, a little scared. Her fear was evident on her face as the carefree grin she'd worn for the past round turned to a look of dismay.

After a moment of silent, very slow reflection, she sat back down. There was an internal conflict between the part of her which KNEW this was wrong, and the part that didn't give a shit. The latter became more and more prominent as she slowly returned to "herself".
"What are you guys so damn upset about? Did somebody like ..die?" She was pretty satisfied with herself for coming up with that "clever" comment. Though she was also annoyed it'd required a pause for thinking up such a simple expression. Her days of partaking in the debate club would be short lived if this persisted. Her friends didn't find it as amusing. They could tell their friend had taken a serious hit to her intelligence. She was by no means a complete bimbo, after all, they could still recognize her as being herself. If only dumber and a lot more trashy and low class. They all noticed how her speech wouldn't necessarily be like that of a complete bimbo, but they had to brace themselves for a lot more pauses and filler sounds as things generally took longer for her to get now.
"Whatevs. You guys are just so damn lame anyways. Himari, can you please just roll the thing and get on with it? I want to get this shit over with so that we can ...like have some fun again!"
Himari did pick up the die, but that last remark didn't go unnoticed by Bitch who immediately jumped on it by asking:
"What FUN were you guys up to!? Come on girls, you can tell me!" She tried to use her charm her. Not in a mature ladylike way, more like a mom trying to be cool way. It was funny to see how quickly she'd adapted to her most recent change.
"NOTHING!" Himari voice cracked. Her response was anything but convincing, but it kept Bitch in her seat for now. She was also interested in letting the game move on, prying any further into Himari and Rebecca's escapades would only delay that.
As if her response wasn't enough to brush Bitch off, Himari also threw the die in the hopes that it'd take the focus away from her and back towards the game. It worked. Her die once idle showed a..

Chicken out: The game
A simple transformative game of chicken
Welcome to chicken out! The game so good we spun it off unchanged!! Based on the concept of Mr_Anderson. This is a game of chicken. The players each take turns rolling a die, their game piece moves accordingly and they draw a card based on the color they land on. The cards contain a text with transformative properties. After reading the card, the player can then choose to either continue or chicken out. Easy, right?
