Enough excitement for one day.

Getting Mai back to the car was a bit of a pain. Not because I had to carry her (she was surpisingly light. What were these things made out of?) but because everyone kept asking if she was okay and giving me suspcious looks. I was lucky to get out without security coming for me.

Strapping Mai into the passenger's seat, I wiped my brow. There wasn't much in the way of sweat to wipe away, but it was more or less just a gesture to show how relieved I was that it was over. I had fun to be sure, but the ending wasn't quite what I would have hoped for. ...the Tunnel of Love was MORE then I had hoped for, of course, but that wasn't the point.

Mai slept for most of the drive home, waking up as a motorcycle drove by. The roar of the engine caused her to wake up with a start. Rubbing her eyes, Mai looked around. "Jo...John...? Where are we?" she mumbled, her eyes bleary. I hoped she even remembered the day. Then again, it wasn't like she got wasted.

"On the way home, Mai. You passed out at the amusement park. I think all that sugar did a number on you," I explained. Mai nodded slowly. I had a feeling she didn't hear me. She soon closed her eyes fell back to sleep. It was hard to focus on the road...she was cute when she was sleeping.

Pulling into my drive way, I shook Mai gently. "Wha...?" Mai groaned, rubbing her eye with one hand and batting my hand away with the other. "We're home," I told her. She paused a moment and got out of the car. She stared at my house for a time. It made me curious, so I got out myself and walked up behind her.

"What's wrong?" I asked, trying to see what exactly she was staring at. "...you said that we were home. ...and...I guess that's true now, isn't it? This is my home..."
