Elizabeth Refuses to Leave Susan Behind

But she wasn’t going in alone, she wasn’t going to leave Susan in the dark. If Trevor picked up on the slightest hint of danger, he’d probably just hide in Susan’s body. Or maybe in the bodies of one of Rachel’s parents. No, right now, they needed everyone who knew anything to be there. “We can meet up tomorrow,” Liz offered, “I’ll bring Susan with me and catch her up to speed on everything that’s going on.”

Naomi’s glare was colder than ice, “I don’t really have much of a choice do I?” she growled, shaking her head, “Fine! But don’t think I’ll let myself be pushed around by the two of you. I don’t care what happens to you or Rachel, I just want Trevor to pay for what he did to me!” She turned away and stomped off, growling, “Meet up at my house at noon.”

At her house, Liz took a long shower hoping she could wash away the feeling of Trevor’s hands on her body. It didn’t help, but at least the shower hid her tears. She walked as if in a daze as she collapsed on her bed. Her phone buzzing was the only thing that snapped her out of it.

Her stomach dropped, worried that if she opened the screen, it would be another message from Trevor, but she let out a breath when she saw it was from Susan instead:

Susan: Yo Liz, what happened?

Did you and Rachel figure something out?

Liz hesitated before finally typing out:

Me: That wasn’t Rachel.

That was Trevor.

Susan: WHAT!?!?!

Me: Naomi told me.

She has the same powers as Rachel and Trevor

She saw Trevor possess Rachel

Susan immediately started calling and Liz picked up, “Liz, are you alright?” Susan demanded, “Did he do anything to you? Did he hurt you? What do you mean Naomi saw what happened?”

Liz listlessly told Susan what she discovered early in her talk with Naomi. She decided to leave out what happened between her and Trevor, she didn’t want to be reminded of that. Not right now. Hearing everything come out of her own mouth made the events real, as if before she was just experiencing a bad dream, but now that she was sharing this with someone else, the nightmare became real.

I wish Rachel never came across that scroll, Liz thought as she finished talking. Susan had stayed quiet throughout the entire thing and although Liz couldn’t see her, she knew Susan had a hand covering her mouth and was staring with wide eyes. She almost laughed as Susan asked, “Are you sure we can trust her?”

“We don’t really have much of a choice,” Liz replied, “It’s not exactly something I’m happy about either, but Naomi knows more about this than anyone else and she says she might have a way to free Rachel from Trevor.”

There was silence on the other side until Susan asked, “What do we do about Trevor? Do you think he’ll find it odd if we cut off contact with him?”

Liz **** her dry throat to swallow, “I guess we’ll have to pretend to not know something is up with him. I was going to say my mom needed me to help her with errands tomorrow and ask if Rachel can figure out a way to get into Trevor’s house without me.”

Susan thought for a moment, “I’ll… I’ll try and think of something to send in the group chat,” she sighed, “Alright, well… I guess we’ll be meeting up with Naomi tomorrow. Ugh, I hope it’s worth it.”

“Me too.” Liz replied before ending the call. She got out of bed when her mom called her down for dinner and while Liz normally appreciated her mother’s cooking, tonight the food just tasted like mush in her mouth.

Her mother noticed Liz was quiet and asked if something was wrong. I was molested by a creep pretending to be my friend. This same creep also violated multiple girls in our grade during one of our most important test days and tomorrow me and Susan are going to meet up with someone we really don’t like just to try to save our friend. Yes, something is very wrong. Instead, all Liz managed was a simple shake of her head and that was enough to dismiss that subject entirely.

She wasn’t even sure if she got any sleep last night.
