She checks with Cherub, and she starts a new day of wonders
the morning is quiet and somber, heavy fog is lingering on the ground and ambriel has to pay attention not to trip and fall. when the fog suddenly lifts she finds herself within a group of mounds, each adorned with a wooden stele, inscribed with a single sigil. deciphering the message left behind here might teach ambriel something
Ambriel looks at the sigils trying to understand the message, or at least the language
ambriel can decipher the sigils as part of the dwarven language. it tells of a dwarven spell that lets its user mold the earth.
Ambriel is very intrigued with that spell, not yet grasping what she could do with it.
but she'll have to think on it.
and a new travel can give her time for that...
the fog has set when she leaves the runic circle and wanders on. a bit away she comes across a burial site. the corpse has been partially dug up by wild animals and devoured, but some of the gear is in usable shape. if ambriel wants to take from the dead man, she can grab a set of gamepieces for a chess game that he was buried with
Not wanting to rob that dead man, nor desacralize him, she decides to use her new learned spell to make a new burial site, to give him dignity
As she has still some fruit from her last camp, Ambriel decide to go further.
ambriel hears chittering and clattering nearby. some big creature is out on the hunt and looking for her
not a unknown situation, but it's always down to choose to fight, to flight, to hide or to talk.
As the opponent seems to be on the hunt, peace talk would be dificult.
So Ambriel choose to hide, hoping to get more information on who or what is hunting her.
ambriel has a good hiding spot but unbeknownst to her, the creature has other senses and finds her, but is unable to sneak up on the vigilant angel
the attacker is a ghirtablilu hunter
seeing ambriels companion the hunter calls in his pet, a giant scorpion to face against cherub
Ambriel hopes that Cherub won't have problem with poison, and she gets in defensive position. Then she tries to ask for a peace talk, with diplomacy.
"Wait please! Can we talk about that?"
"You can submit to me willingly if that is what you mean, breeding slave."
"i meant more something as tribute with wealth value... But we can talk..."
"I don't care about any trinkets or items. What i care about is dropping my clutch of eggs into you for you to breed them. I'd prefer to keep you as a permanent breeding pet, but as you suggested, we can talk about it."
"i rather want to keep my freedom. But i can accept to willingly fuck with you if you win. And if i win i won't kill you. It will be like a duel, only you and me. What do you say?"
"Since i would have fought you anyway, i can accept this."
"ok, let restart this."
Ambriel charges into the duel.
Ambriel made a cut at the charge but she was now exposed, the creature retaliates and she tries to avoid the blow
the spear of the creature sinks into ambriels flesh
Ambriel takes a short breath before swinging her scimitar again
ambriel wins the fight in two decisive strikes
"Aren't you glad we talked? I said i won't kill you"
Ambriel ponders the possibility of changing his gender, as she didn't give her word
but her sense of honor kept her from changing her word
the enemy is seemingly unhappy with the outcome but he is true to his word
"Thank you for your honor."
Ambriel goes away to make a camp for the night
the night is quiet and warm. ambriel doesn't even need a fire and cherub is keeping a quiet watch
