Drags her into the lake

The giant squid pulls away from shore, quickly retreating to deeper waters with Hermione in its clutches. It soon has enough depth to descend, and when it does it drags her with it. The shock of the cold water immobilizes her for a few seconds, while the beast swims deeper and further from the shoreline. It twists her around and spins her as it moves, completely disorienting her and confusing her sense of direction.
