Chapter 548 by Fantasy Fantasy

What's next?

Down for breakfast.

We had to debate whether we wanted to have breakfast in our room or go down to the restaurant. On one hand, our group might draw attention down there and make things a bit uncomfortable, but on the other it was kind of uncomfortable to eat without a table.

“We could ask for breakfast to be delivered here, yes, but downstairs it’s a buffet and there are waffles and pancakes,” Diana told us.

That sealed the deal. Noelle and Grace were the firsts to stand up, even.

“Who cares about others? I’m starving,” Grace said.

“Come on! Pancakes!” Noelle grabbed me by the wrist and pulled, dragging me towards the door.

Alice giggled. “It’ll be embarrassing, but oh well. Better get used to it.”

“Yeah, you have a point,” Mila agreed. “We’re gonna live together. No point avoiding things just because we don’t want to draw attention.”

“Yep. Now let’s go. I’m craving eggs right now,” Sarah said,

I snapped my head towards her. “C-Cravings?”

“Yes, Oliver. I’m having cravings the night after we had sex. That totally means I’m pregnant.” Sarah sighed and shook her head before she spanked me on the butt. “You and I are having a female biology study session one of these days.”

“Okay, but what if you ARE pregnant?” Mila asked her. “What would you do?”

We all exited the room and began to make our way down the stairs.

“Delay my studies and rely on you all to maintain me for a while,” Sarah casually said.

“Oh? You have this figured out already?” Diana teasingly asked.

“Of course I do. There’s a non-zero chance that it might happen, right?”

I remembered a talk I had with Frey. She said her magic could serve as either the ultimate contraceptive or as a sure-fire way to get pregnant. So basically the chances were either 0% or 100% depending on Frey, which I think makes Sarah both right and wrong at the same time.

“You’re not getting pregnant before me, though,” Grace told her.

“I totally am.”

“Seriously? You’re fighting over that?” Mila asked them. “I mean, I guess I do look forward to the day, but I’m not in a hurry.”

“I hate throwing up, so I’m not looking forward to that, at least,” Grace said.

“Who knows? With the way our bodies are working thanks to a certain someone, maybe pregnancy won’t be so bad,” Alice said. “You know, like our periods.”

“Oh,” Diana exclaimed, furrowing her brow in thought. “I didn’t think of that. Mmmm.”

“Moving plans ahead, Diana?” Noelle teased her.

Diana, however, smirked. “Maybe. What do you think, dear?”

“I’m sorry. I peaced out of this conversation the moment we left the room,” I told them. “I’m placing myself at the hands of a higher being.” That was Frey. She would never allow us to get pregnant unless we were ready.

R-Right?

It was, admittedly, a pretty wild conversation to be having on our way to the restaurant on the first floor, but we didn’t run into anyone on the staircase. Even in the restaurant itself there weren’t many tables in use.

“It’s still a weekday, after all. Not many people stay overnight,” Diana told us.

Yeah. It was a good thing we were practically done with school until our graduation ceremony. And Dina herself would have a night shift this time, so we could have breakfast without worries.

The other tables in use were indeed other couples, though. Older than us, older than Diana. Sharply dressed men and women. Actually, one table had three men and one woman which probably meant…

Eh. What do I care?

A table had been set for our group of seven, but first we scattered around the buffet tables. Mila and Alice went to get bowls of fruit, Grace and Diana went to make themselves a couple of sandwiches each, Sarah went to get a bowl of ham and eggs and Noelle and I raided the hell out of the waffles and pancakes tables. We made ourselves coffee and tea then sat down at our table, ready to make a second raid after this.

As we were eating, one of the staff members, a man in a suit, approached our table. He bowed politely and addressed us all.

“Good morning everyone. I hope everything is to your liking?”

Diana happened to be sitting beside me, so after a three-second pause where no one answered, she gently elbowed me on the side. W-Was I supposed to take this one?

“Everything’s good. Thank you very much.”

The man smiled. “That’s good to hear. If there is anything you need, please feel free to tell us. The owner wants you to hold nothing back.”

I swallowed a sight.

Yep, this was all Luke’s treat. When I mentioned I wanted to rent a room here for prom he insisted on giving it to me for free because he still felt like he wasn’t giving me enough for my work on his potion project. I tried to argue but he wouldn’t have it. He even hired a limo for us.

You know, when I think that I’d also try to give my friends gifts and the like if I had money to burn, Luke’s behavior didn’t seem so weird. While this would've cost a pretty penny to us, for him it wasn’t even spare change. I don’t want to take advantage of it, but nevertheless, I’m thankful.

“Is he here right now?” I asked the man.

“He is, but he says he won’t bother you. He wishes for you all to enjoy yourselves.”

“Can you ask him if I can see him in 30 minutes? Only if he’s available, of course.”

“Yes, sir. I’ll ask him.”

Thirty minutes seemed long enough for me to have breakfast and to not bother him if he was in the middle of something. It was nice of him not to show up out of nowhere, but I still had to go thank him.

The man left after another polite bow. I let out a sigh and turned to Diana.

“How’d I do?”

“Very well. Sorry to put you on the spot but, as Luke’s guests, you’re the representative here. Besides… Asking things to my own coworkers IS a bit awkward.”

Can relate. Haven’t gone to the coffee shop as a customer since I started working there.

“Oh. Um… Uh-oh…” Mila giggled. “I almost forgot we came here with them…”

Mila was sitting across from me and she was looking past me. Naturally, we all got curious and followed her gaze.

Thomas and Maria had come down to have breakfast as well.
