Beth finished out her deep tissue massage, washing her hands in the kitchen sink while James donned a robe he had laid out for the massage. It was the usual course of events. "I'm sorry I couldn't do more."
"You did your best. I feel a lot better, Beth. Maybe I'll book another session in a couple of days. Something a little less....deep tissue."
"Well, I'm definitely going to encourage you to do that, Mr. Hardy." she laughed, and she turned to receive payment from him and shake his hand. "I am really sorry about you and Kim."
"It's all right. Well...no it's not, but it will be. It is what it is."

Beth smiled. She loved this particular pair of clients. Jenny Dahlia and her fiancé Peter Collins were 20-something young professionals, just like her and Brian. They were new clients at the spa, and recently had started getting couples massages in their modest home in Anaheim. They were a nice picture of what she and Brian had been.... before work had consumed Brian's life.
She was looking forward to this couples' session as she finished her lunch and drove to their house.
