What's next?
Direct approach, as always.
A wave of rivalry washed over you, and your mind started churning with tactics to outshine him. You opted to initiate with brazen strategy, something that would isolate Michael from the other so that you could target him without being suspected by others while being more helpful than he was. "You know, there's a decent park just a few minutes walk from here. I bet that you could find a few places for wedding photos."
Upon proposing the park idea, you detect a blend of curiosity in Michael's gaze. This wasn't what he had come to expect from you at all. A competitive spark in his eyes fuels your excitement. Candace, however, appears intrigued by your suggestion. "That's splendid," she approves. "I'm sure you can find attractive spots for photos. Michael, would you mind accompanying...Dustin, correct?
Of course she would "Forget" your name. The bitch. And this was clearly a ploy to get you to leave. But you needed to behave. Maybe you should add her to your conquests. You're sure that she would be a bit more respectful while she was begging for your dick.
Michael hesitates, weighing his desire to stay against the potential benefits of scouting locations. Ultimately, he concedes and rises, maintaining steady eye contact with you. "Alright, let's do that," he agrees, heading for the exit.
This wasn't exactly what you had in mind. You were hoping you could get everyone else to go, and you stay behind with Michael. But that was probably too much to hope for. And one option is as good as another. Your triumphant feeling grows tentatively as you isolate Michael from the gathering. Now, you can concentrate on taking control of him. You stand, feigning a stretch, and follow Michael outside.
As you exit the yard with Michael, Your heart pounds so hard you can hear it in your ears. You've planned this out thoroughly, and though you fumbled a time or two, you're wide-eyed and manic for the chance to take Michael down, steal Sarah, and protect what's yours.
Walking beside Michael, you notice his reserved demeanor, his gaze fixed on the path ahead. You ponder his thoughts, questioning whether suspicion tinges his mind or if he's merely preoccupied.
You decide to take him off guard, and weave your words naturally into the conversation. "Michael, any thoughts on the park photography idea?"
Michael glances at you, his eyes narrowing momentarily, "It's a solid plan," he replies calmly, "But I'm curious why you're so invested in assisting with the wedding. This isn't what I had come to expect from you. From what Sarah has told me, you have always been one to act in your own interest"
As you proceeded, the gravel crunched rhythmically beneath your feet, echoing the tension building between you. His distrust from your offences against his fiancée, and your eagerness to annihilate the threat he represents. You chose your words wisely, understanding the potential impact they could have on the delicate balance of power. All the same, the stress and eagerness grew with every passing moment.
"I've made errors in my past," You admitted, you allowed yourself to feel a hair of guilt for the sake of the act. "Now, I'm trying to make amends."
Michael spared a fleeting glance in your direction, the stern line of his jaw visibly softening. "It's good to make amends, but don't be too hard on yourself. The bible teaches that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of god. Romans, I think." You heard the faint sound of his phone buzzing in his pocket.
As he went to check his phone, you had conflicting emotions, and your face showed them all clearly. On the one hand, it felt somehow wrong to act in ill will to someone who was so willing to forgive you. On the other hand, how dare he preach to you about forgiving yourself when he was just as guilty; okay, maybe a little less; of warping people's minds for his own benefit. It just seemed a little self-serving, you know?
As your heart pounded and you were eager to start making changes, you make a simple request. "Look, Michael, I respect your beliefs, but please don't shower me with the bible stuff." As soon as the words left your mouth, you felt your phone vibrate. After checking your phone, you looked up in horror as you realized. You had just made a grave error. He looked at you, his mild suspicion and gentle demeanor turned to a fire looming from over the top of his own device. A fire that you could swear would burn you out in an instant. You, in turn made no more effort in hiding your wild-eyed competitiveness. You fucked up, and your plan was up in smoke immediately. For on the screen, there was a simple line that you know he had just received as well.
