Dinner gets interrupted

Soft music is playing, something jazz-adjacent, just loud enough to help muffle the various conversations, so that while the place is crowded the acoustics and lighting make it feel intimate. From the other side of the privacy screen you hear a few people try to approach, but a server/bouncer is running interference.

“Well that makes it a little easier to talk. You do realize your picture is going to be all over social media by morning as everyone tries to figure out who you are?” Wonder Woman says with an amused grin.

“Hey I wouldn’t have had you wear the costume if I was scared of 15 minutes of fame.”

The food is amazing. You make small talk, she laughs politely at your funny stories, and puts up with your fan boy questions. (Is Batman as badass as he seems? Are Power Girl’s boobs bigger than hers? Are all the Amazons super hot? etc.) You feel more than a little awkward – she was so much easier to talk to when you had her tied up!

The plates have been cleared away and you’re thinking of how best to bring up the whole “say, can I tie you up again?” thing, when there’s some kind of commotion and you hear a woman’s shout of pain or distress. Your date stands – a little too relieved at the distraction – and with a hurried “You’ll have to excuse me for a moment,” she brushes past the privacy screen in the direction of the disturbance.

Well there’s no way you’re going to miss this! You slide out of the booth and follow.

Wonder Woman strides into the hallway to the bathrooms, where a young man seems to be trying to **** his attentions on a lady. The heroine grabs the man by the shoulder and slams him into the opposite wall, just hard enough to get his attention without breaking anything, and turns to say something to the woman. With a start you recognize the blond businesswoman that was glaring at you earlier. Diana also recognizes her and let’s out a surprised “Veronica?” as the woman sarcastically exclaims “My hero!”

After that things happen rapidly. You think they happen in this order but honestly it’s all so fast that it’s hard to follow. “Veronica” sprays some sort of gas in the surprised heroine’s face. The Amazon takes an instinctive step backwards into the man who had been assaulting(?) Veronica, and he shocks her with some sort of industrial strength taser. (Or wait, is it a taser if you have to touch them, or is that a stun gun? Whatever.) Wonder Woman arches her back as the high current courses through her body, but that doesn’t stop her from swatting the man out into the main restaurant; he lands on someone’s table with a sound of breaking glass and dishes. People scream in alarm.

Veronica sprays Diana in the face again, but Diana slaps the perfume sprayer out of her hand and with an almost nonchalant backhand drops the businesswoman to the floor. But another man has come out of the bathroom behind the Amazon; he raises some kind of high-tech rifle (how the hell did he get that thing in here?) and shoots. Wonder Woman pivots towards the sound and gets her bracelets up in time to block the energy beam, but the **** is enough to knock her backwards out of the hallway.

All around you is chaos as people run for the elevator. Out of the corner of your eye you see the Hostess trying to direct people to the emergency exits. But you’re focused on the fight in front of you. Wonder Woman is still standing, tho she looks a little woozy, either from the gas or the shock or both. She snatches her tiara off her forehead and throws it at the gunman, knocking the rifle out of his hands. But with all the commotion, she doesn’t see another man behind her raise a second rifle to shoot her in the back...
