The Next Morning
Did it really happen?
Lucy woke to find herself still dressed in the clothes she had been wearing the night before. She was groggy and confused about the events of last night, or if they'd even happened at all. Lucy changed into a fresh pair of jeans, the tights she'd been wearing had been torn at the knee. A tank top replaced her grass stained denim jacket and t-shirt. She didn't bother with a bra, modesty was the least of her concerns, plus she felt like never leaving the comfort of her room again.
Lucy made her way downstairs to grab some breakfast and coffee. She was greeted by her mum, Kath who appeared to be her usual chirpy self. Lucy loved her mother but had no idea how someone could be so positive and awake at 11am. Their morning chat was interrupted by a loud knock at the door.
Kath answered the door, revealing a very corporate looking man in a black suit. "Good morning madam, I'm with the British Security Office, may I ask a few questions?" Lucy nearly choked on her coffee as the realisation hit her that last night's events were very much real.
"Have you witnessed any unexplained phenomena in your area such as beams of light, loud noises or things going missing within the last 12 hours?" The man asked, his expression remaining that of a bored office worker. "No, I didn't hear anything last night" Kath replied. "And have you had any interaction with strangers or people you didn't recognise in the last few days?". Kath repeated her answer, "Nobody out of the ordinary". The man thanked them for their time and swiftly left, no doubt to receive the same unhelpful answers from their neighbours. Lucy quickly excused herself and ran back up to her room. She needed to find out what this thing was and exactly how much trouble she was in.
