What happens on Level Five?

Diana faces a dilemma

No sooner than she saw the security guard waving at her than Diana started sighing.

"Okay," she said. "I have only one item of clothing left. I suppose I have to remove that too."

"Actually I'd prefer it if you just hand over your earrings."

"Wait... just my earrings?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Thank God," said Diana.

"And the watch."

"Oh, yes, the watch. But I can keep the rest on, right?"

"For now."

Diana smiled and hoped that she could find some evidence of wrongdoing on this level so that she could wrap up this investigation and go home.

But she did not find a thing. Which meant she had to go to Level Six. Unless she was to quit right then.

But that's what they would want me to do, she thought. This whole thing with the various rules regarding clothing -- it had to be a trick, right? Some way to psych her out so that she dare not follow through with her investigation.

Whatever they were hiding had to be on the last two levels. So she can go on -- even if it meant what she thought it meant. She blushed at the very idea of what that was but she reentered the elevator again anyway. And let the operator take her down to the next level.
