Dealing with Pixies
Finally noticing the class’ obvious disinterest, Lockhart clears his throat and moves on, “Ahem, today, dear students, I shall be training you to fend off the darkest of dark creatures, the most terrifying of beasts!” He whips out a large cage covered in a silk and raps it with his wand. Whatever lurks inside the cage rattles and shrieks with displeasure. A few students start to look intrigued or even frightened, “In this cage, I have captured a colony of dangerous… abominable… pixies!”
Lockhart throws off the covering, revealing a few dozen tiny blue imps with bulbous eyes and buzzing wings. They screech with annoyance and claw at the bars, but the students are largely unimpressed. Gilderoy straightens himself up, “I see that did not invoke the terror it should have, perhaps you’ve never experienced… a rampage!” He unlatches the door of the cage, and the pixies flood out into the room like a swarm of enraged bees.
Hermione is bum-rushed by a handful of them, while others cause chaos around the classroom. Students swat at the pests with books, or rush from the room screaming.
