Day Five Part 2.

Meredith drove the whole way over in a seething rage. After a dozen or more texts, Jay had finally replied that he wanted to talk in person. He gave her an address and she immediately got in her car to see him.

Apparently that bullshit those women had told her was true, or at least partially true. When she looked in the mirror in the morning and saw those weird green eyes staring back, she almost passed out. She was gonna track that piece of shit down and get this fixed.

She pulled up to the house and stormed up the porch steps. She knocked on the door and the woman front door answered. "Come on in." the bitch said, smiling politely.

She pushed past her. "Where the fuck is Jay?" She stopped in surprise, caught off guard. There were two identical women in the room, one of whom had greeted her at the door. The third woman was not identical, but looked similar. She gaped at the three of them for a moment then regained her composure. "Which one of you is Jay?"

The one in the Grrl Power hat raised her hand sheepishly. "That'd be me. Meredith, I'm so sor-"

Her apology was interrupted by Meredith's right hook. She let out a squawk and collapsed to the ground as the other two rushed to her side.

The stunned Eve held a hand to her cheek. "What- what did you do that for?" She sounded so scared and timid that Meredith almost felt bad for her.

"If you're really Jay, you shouldn't have to ask."

The woman stood woozily and walked over to her. She had tears in her eyes. "I... was Jay. I'm still a little Jay. I'm Eve now, and I think you're becoming Eve too." She paused. "Forgive me, but I can't seem to recall how we know each other. Were we lovers? You seem so familiar and I know Jay knew you." She took Meredith's hand in hers. "We're all working to solve this."

Meredith yanked her hand back. She was furious. "What do you mean you don't know how we met? We work together! I blew you in the breakroom and now I'm turning into this!" She hauled back to punch the woman again but the doppelganger caught her arm. "Hey now, we don't need any more ****. Eve G is trying to reverse this, just like you."

She glared at them, then sighed with resignation. "Fine, I guess. Ok, tell me what happened from the beginning. Don't skip a word."

She listened with a mix of fascination, skepticism, and horror as Eve G recounted the story. Claire and Eve C chimed in at times to explain events from their perspective. When they finished, she took a second to gather her thoughts.

"So we're all slowly- what, turning into this Eve woman?" One of them nodded. "And all you've done is ask around at the bar where you met? Why not just ask her?" She pointed accusingly at Eve G. "You're turning into Eve, right? If you're so far gone, why don't you tell us where she is?"

Eve G shrugged noncommittally but Claire pressed her. "Yeah, that's a good point. Why haven't you told us anything about the original Eve? Surely you must know something about her."

Eve G backed away defensively. "Hey, look, I don't make the rules of this thing. I wanna get back to being Jay just as much-"

"So you say." Eve C interrupted her. "But to be honest, I don't feel a strong drive to be Jenny anymore. I'm a day behind you and already Jenny feels like a memory. So why do you keep insisting you want to be Jay again?"

Eve G looked around desperately. Finally she gave up. "Ok, I'll admit it. I don't really care about being Jay anymore. I like being Eve. This body feels nice and I can't imagine giving it up. But I still don't have any information about Eve, ok? All I know is how good I feel and how badly I wanna go spread this around." They advanced on her and she threw up her hands. "But I won't! Ok? I know it's wrong and I'm not gonna do it!"

The others shared a glance. Did they believe her?
