Date with Evelyn

That evening when Jack arrives home late in the afternoon just in time for dinner and afterwards he sculks back into his room as has become his daily routine. But instead of sneaking into the back shed to work on the machine he forgets about it and pulls the note out of his pocket to instead calls Evelyn. After a few moments of his phone ringing she picks up, "hello? this is Evelyn" the says.

"Hey... Hey Evelyn this is Jack" He responds stuttering as he starts.

"Oh! hey Jack, thanks for fixing my laptop earlier" she says now knowing who shes talking to. "is there something you wanted?" she then asks.

"Umm... Ya... I a wanted to ask if you would like to hang out tomorrow afternoon", Jack says again with stutter, nervous about the answer .

"I would love to Jack" she says with a pep in her voice. "wanna meet up at the plaza in town" she says leading the conversation, and says "We could go to the comic book store, get some food and maybe some ice cream".

"That would be great, meet you there tomorrow afternoon then" Jack says as they then quickly say goodbye to each other, as he then collapses onto his bed.

Jack then takes in a depth breath as tho he has not being breathing during the entire conversation. Throughout high school Jack had been one of the nerdy kids, always sticking to the shadows with his close groups of friends. He never had luck with girls as they ether just did not liked him, or they just wanted him to do their projects for them. But he thought back to the times he spent with Evelyn and how close they were until that fateful summer. After that they only had passing conversation when in classes to gather, or gave each other a look and nod when passing in the halls. But after all those years he would be going on an actual date with a girl he likes.

Get out of his bed he spent the rest of the evening trying to get his mind in the right headspace so that he would not screw tomorrow up.

The Next Afternoon

Jack awoke the next day with sun light flooding his room. He got up and looked outside at the warmer summer day with determination. Today would be different, Jack was basically going on date for the first time in his life, but he felt like he could conquer the world. Jack proceeded to spend his day getting ready for meeting Evelyn. He did everything from trying to dress the nicest to planning out conversations and where they could go. He decided to wear a nice summer shirt and shorts so that he could still handle the heat bt look nice. But eventually the time drew close and he had to dash out the door and walked with a quickly pace down to the main town plaza.

At this time of day the Fairview town plaza was quite busy, especially during the summer, with people out shopping, relaxing, and enjoying the nice weather. It soon became a daze for Jack as he tried to search for Evelyn in the crowd of people, But out of nowhere he felt a tap on his shoulder which made him jump, and spin around. Laughing behind him was Evelyn who just tapped him on his shoulder. Standing behind him was Evelyn, she was floral summer dress and had put a flower in her hair.

"Ha ha ha... Oh jack your so easy to scare" she said unable to contain her soft laughter while holding a hand over her mouth.

"Well when your focused on a task it becomes easy to catch someone off guard" He said shooting back at her.

"fair enough, well since we are both here now, what do you want to do?" Evelyn then asked giving him a intrigue.

"why don't we start with some shopping and go to the comic book store, then maybe the arcade" Jack rambled rubbing the back of his head.

"that sounds lovely, lets go!" Evelyn responds quickly taking his hand and leading him off.

Jack proceeds to follow along behind her as she drags him through the crowd. They first visit the comic book store, spending a while to browse through the collection, and share wich ones they liked and don't like, and they buy each other the ones they found interesting. After having there fill they carried on to the local arcade and spent a time there playing games together, and winning each other prizes. They continue to reconnect and get closer as the night went on. Once done at the arcade they both decided on getting some ice-cream to help cool off the heat from the day as the sun set.

They arrived at on the of the crowded ice-cream shops near the plaza, Jack had luckily found a bench for them to sit and set down there stuff. He left Evelyn to sit there while he went and got the ice-cream. The place was packed as he spent a long time just waiting in line to get the ice-cream that when he was on his walk back with their delicious treats, he notices some people talking to Evelyn.

Standing around around Evelyn are the old high school jocks that would always pick on Jack, specifically Michael. He was a tall buff guy with jet black hair, and always dressed like he was some greaser out of the 50s. This had completely caught Jack off guard, their date was going so well, but now it was about to go completely down hill. Jack continued to walk over caring both cones of ice-cream and before he could even get near to Evelyn his presence was noticed.

"What are you doing here fuck whit!" Michael shouted out at him with the rest of his gaggle of jocks turnig their heads to face him. Jack stopped in his tracks and could only slightly stutter before Evelyn piped in saying "knock it off Michael, we just decided to hang out".

"Hang out with a nerd like this, you can do better than that Evelyn" Michael said as he walked over to Jack. "He's a nerd with no brawn or muscle, who would want to hang out with him" he proceed to say.

"I would want to hang out with him!" Evelyn quickly shot back, but before Jack or anyone else could say anything Michael took charge. He proceed to get behind and "pants" Jack, showing to the world the one thing he hoped to keep private.

"Ya, you'd really want to go out with a nerd that has a shrimp of pecker" Michael said as all his jock followers started to laugh. Jack had dropped the ice-cream and was now looking at Evelyn while he tried to pull his shorts back up. Evelyn could not hold back she was stunned and felt sorry for jack, but the laughter inside of her was to much, she had never seen a penis that small, and so she broke out a small giggle trying to hide it with her hand. But Jack new all to well that she would not look at him the same.

Jack rushed off leaving behind the things they had bought and ran his back to the main plaza and then all the back home. Tears formed in his eyes as his mind wandered to what could have been if his life was not always ruined by some jock. He came running in through the door, ignoring his mom and sister who were watching tv in the living room, and locked himself in his room and away from the rest of the world.

As Jack sat there wallowing on his bed his mind started to wander back to the events of this week. He thought back to his dads machine that he had started work on, and thought of what it cold do to fix the situation. And that is when a light bulb went off in Jack's mind. JAck now sat up with a determination and plan brewing in his mind, that in most situations you have to accept life but for him that was not the case. He got up and walked over his computer as he was about to start ordering the parts he needed to finish his dad invention.

The next week was going to be one of an outset goal to change his life for the better.
