Darkness

Out of all branches of magic, dark magic can do the most unpredictable things. In case of this trap you thought about something really strange. When the chimera accidentally steps into the circle, a shadow spreads quickly under it. It fills the whole circle within a second and as soon as the shadow reaches under the chimeras pawns, it suddenly falls into the shadow like there is no floor anymore. All you hear is a surprised whimper, followed by a long frightened scream, then the shadow closes again and disappears. There's no sign of the chimera anymore.

This was a dimensional gate. You opened a door to a place called >The Darkness<. Another world full of endless shadows. Or at least your teachers would describe it that way. Whatever it really is, countless experiments by dark mages of the last five centuries lead to the conclusion, that it is a completely empty dimension. Just like the vacuum outside of the earths atmosphere. You are no expert, but you assume Calitian works the same as earth in terms of astrophysics.

Honestly, you are not completely sure how long it will take for the chimera to die over there. If there is no oxigen it will die within minutes. If there is breathable air, it would probably starve for several days. A horrible ****, but you shake off all pity. This creature killed innocent people, stole their lifestock and it even stabbed Tocar with its poisoned tail. A nice mage like him did not deserve such an end.

Now that you think about it, you can't tell for sure he really died in his fight. There is a small chance he is still alive. And that would mean he needs your help. With no hesitation you leave the clearing and run back as fast as you can.
