Dark Conversations and New Acquaintances
"Midoriya."
Todoroki's smooth voice startled the green-haired boy while he was about to have breakfast with Uraraka. "T-Todoroki...-kun? What's wrong?" Truth be told, he was still intimidated by her aura of cold hatred and her fixated eyes. She effortlessly radiated danger despite appearing calm.
"Breakfast. Let's have it together." That wasn't worded as a question. If anything, it was an order. Just what was on her mind...? Izuku turned around, noticing Ochako was watching them, and signaled for her to know that he'd be talking with Todoroki - just in time for Iida to notice what was going on and sit down to keep her company, too.
They sat down in front of each other, with Todoroki having served herself a bowl of room-temperature soba, and Izuku munching on a serving of some foreign breakfast that Kaminari had given him on Jiro's behalf. 'She had to run, but told me to give this to ya. When's the day I get a cute chick to cook me breakfast, mannnnn?!'
A few minutes of silent eating and uncomfortable eye contact from Shouko passed, before Izuku decided to raise his voice.
"Um... Todoroki-kun? Did you have any reason to bring me here...?" Slowly, his eyes rose to meet her cold glare.
"Midoriya... are you All Might's secret love child or something?" That ridiculous sentence came out of her lips as easily as breathing. He had to contain a chuckle with all his strength - she was both incredibly sharp and dull at the same time, somehow.
"No, no, of course not! My father is nothing like him, ahahah... A-All Might is my idol, and a great teacher, of course! I owe him so much, especially since I learned my fighting style from watching videos of him, a-and I have so much merch of him because of how much I admire him, even though I never did get that limited edition wallpaper, I want it so bad, anyway he's great and super cool and powerful..." The Mutter of Doom had been triggered, and yet, it stopped with a cold foggy breath coming from Todoroki. Froze him in his tracks, out of fear that he pissed her off more than anything else.
"You're not obligated to tell the truth. You know... that my father is Endeavor, right?" He gulped, reaching for a glass of water to wash down the bite he just took... and to avoid saying much. He didn't like Endeavor that much. Not only because of the online flame wars between All Might and Endeavor fans, but because of the burning anger and rudeness that the man constantly inflicted upon others. Though he didn't mind people like Kodama, who just like how hot he looks; he had to admit the guy was ripped, and hard-working to a fault.
"My bastard of a father has been obsessed with defeating All Might ever since he learned of the difference in their power. Yet, no matter how hard he tries, All Might simply beats him to it every time. Ever heard of Quirk Marriages?" Of course he had. Who hasn't, by now? It used to be a huge problem a few decades ago, but it still popped up here and there, especially between families with unequal wealth.
Todoroki's eyes by now seemed much more... burning, one could say, with passionate anger and focused spite. It reminded him of Endeavor himself. "That asshole ingratiated himself with my mother's family. Leveraged his status and wealth to get them to accept a marriage with her. Had three children he widely and openly regarded as failures, because they didn't get the Quirk combination he wanted. And eventually, I was born. His one success. His true heir." She finished up her dish, scowling at it having gone cold while talking to him, and continued.
"He trained me ever since I was five. Hard enough to make me puke every other day. Hard enough that my mother would beg for him to stop, and he'd simply slap her away. The **** kept going for years, until she snapped one day." Her hand reached towards her facial scar, softly laying her fingers on it. "'That left side of hers disgusts me. It reminds me so much of him. I can't take it anymore.' She said to my grandmother on the phone while I eavesdropped. When I asked what was wrong, she turned around and poured a kettle of boiling water on my left eye, as if trying to smudge away the half of me that looks like that man. He threw her into an asylum right after."
Izuku had been silent this entire time, his body taken over by intense chills to the point of paralysis. She had suffered so much, at such a young age, and nobody knew a thing about this. If word got out, Endeavor's reputation would jump off a cliff, and legal repercussions were possible. Just why was she telling him all of this?
"...I am Endeavor's chosen daughter and heir, and you are a boy under All Might's tutelage, with a Quirk that resembles his own beyond a shred of doubt; you might as well be his son, metaphorically if not literally. I intend on beating you in the Sports Festival, like I said. And I'll do so without use of my left side. That'll teach that bastard just how much control he really has over me. And maybe, mom will be watching. You better be ready, Midoriya."
And having said this, she got up and started gathering her dishes in order to leave. Was that it? Just her explaining why she had specifically beelined towards him back then? This felt wrong. She clearly wanted an answer out of him, and rage was eating her alive inside. For the first time since he gained this power, Izuku wanted to use it of his own free will. Todoroki seemed like she could use a distraction, positive feelings, really, anything to keep her from such a self-destructive single-minded path. So, as she was leaving, he reached out and grabbed her by the wrist, making her turn to him in shock.
As much as he was used to the sensation of time crawling down, the way it highlighted his target's beauty never ceased to amaze him. Shouko's skin seemed to glisten lightly, her heterochromatic eyes appeared bigger than before, and the rack peeking from her otherwise conservative costume attracted his attention with her heavy breathing and gulping. Finally, things went back to normal, and she stood there as if waiting for an explanation. That's when he let go, and put on a brave face to say his part.
"I really feel sorry for what happened to you, and I know I have no reason as good as yours to win the upcoming tournament. However... I've gotten to where I am only because I am blessed with wonderful friends, family and tutors, whom I owe way too much to disappoint. So..." He got up, making a fist at her in a friendly declaration of rivalry. "...let's do our best in the Sports Festival, Todoroki-kun!"
"...yeah." Even though she still seemed shocked, she nodded a little and turned around, heading over to class. When she was far away enough, Izuku could see her from the dorm windows, staring at the hand he grabbed like it was possessed.
That was one awkward morning to explain to his girlfriend and classmate.
"Midoriya-san, a moment of your time, please." Yaoyorozu approached him after classes. He had to remind himself that she was already under Attraction of Hot Things, and to avoid any strange thoughts related to her. "How can I help you, Vice Prez?"
"Oh, just call me Yaoyorozu. We'll be working together from now on, there's no need to be so formal to each other." She gave him a bright smile, somehow a complete 180 turn from her professional, cold look when he first saw her during the Quirk Apprehension Exam. Maybe she was just warming up to a new place with new people back then.
"Either way, I merely wanted to ask you to accompany me to meet the class representatives from Class 1-B. Building relationships with our peers is important, especially when we're out of this academy. And ultimately, we will work together with them, too, when relegating the needs of the Hero Course in general. Are you available right now?"
"Sure! It makes me a little nervous to meet new people so suddenly, but with you around, I'll feel much safer about sticking my foot in my mouth, Yaoyorozu-san." Surprisingly, these words seemed to lit up a spark in her eye, as she turned around toward the door with her chin up high. "Why, of course! You can count on me, Midoriya-san. Let's head over and be friendly to them for starters."
Ah! Am I so dependable to him? It makes me so happy to feel like I can be relied upon... as long as he tries to pull his weight, I'm sure this will go just fine.
The two started walking down the hallway, approaching 1-B's class, when suddenly...
"Hey, call Cathleen! She's ****!"
"I'm punching in her number as fast as I can, dammit!"
Frantic voices could be heard coming from within the class, to which Yaoyorozu and Midoriya both ran in order to see what was going on. There, a blonde girl with unruly hair and red eyes seemed to be **** on something, possibly related to the half-eaten fish bento on her desk.
"1-A! Any of you got a Quirk to help?! I think a spine got stuck in her throat and we can't get it out!"
"Catie's phone keeps ringing, she's not picking up!"
"[NO NEED]!" A roar in perfect English came from the hallway, causing the two 1A reps to peek out of the door to see... what seemed to be a massive juggernaut sprinting at full speed towards the classroom, surrounded by golden locks and carrying possibly the biggest set of breasts Izuku had ever seen.
Much as he enjoyed the sight deep down, he really didn't have a **** wish just yet, and immediately went back inside along with Momo just in time for the woman to burst through the door. The moment she got in, her big cyan eyes scanned the room, quickly settling on the **** girl a second before her hand moved to touch her shoulder. Then, she spoke in English once again, though her words sounded... mystical, almost. Charged in pure power.
"[Toga Himiko. Toga's digestive system has evolved to eat spines safely.]"
And just like that, the girl apparently called Toga could finally swallow and take a deep breath. "Ahhh! Guh... blech... th-thank you, Catie-neesan... that was so bad... eugh." The large beast of a woman, almost a full meter taller than Izuku was, turned to him and Yaoyorozu, one of her eyes having changed color slightly. Maybe it was related to her Quirk?
"You two... Class one-a?" Her Japanese was... spotty, but understandable. It did have a bit of an American accent to it. An exchange student maybe? "I am Cathleen Bate. Can call me Catie, Cassie, Kate, your choice. Sorry for sweat. Was at gym just now." Toga had apparently climbed on top of her back, since her head was peeking out of her shoulder as she added: "Big sis Cassie is so cool! I knew I voted for the right class prez~"
Oh. So... this hulking beauty was the president of 1-B? That must mean Kendo was taken out of her temporary role like Iida did. She probably was Vice Prez instead, considering that being reliable and dependable was what they were looking for.
"Yo, 1-A! Thanks for coming either way, I'm glad you got to see our amazing Catie in action! Let's do our best at the Sports Festival tomorrow! I'm Tetsutetsu, by the way, nice to meet y'all!" Said one of the guys who was freaking out about Toga, sporting some really long eyelashes circling the entirety of his eyes, as well as metallic-gray hair.
The other one, who was ringing Catie up back then, was a girl with pink hair styled in short braids, wearing expensive-looking sports clothing. She seemed slim and a bit toned, with medium breasts and a nice, yet not amazing butt. Her eyes seemed oval-shaped and a little weird, but honestly, in this world, weird eyes were an everyday sight. "Yeah, thanks for coming by. Did you wanna meet up with the prez? I'm Tsuburaba Kiyomi, nice to meet you." The two of them introduced themselves as well, noting their rank in 1-A in the process.
Cathleen extended a hand towards Yaoyorozu at that moment, which she reluctantly shook - mostly **** out of fear for losing a hand in the process. "Vice Prez left for home early. Glad to meet you two. Um... [Let's fight together tomorrow!]" Izuku was glad he had taken English classes seriously, and Yaoyorozu seemed to understand her perfectly well, considering she replied in English too. "[Yes! Whatever happens, let us do our best!]"
Her hand now extended towards Izuku, who felt himself deep in that same pit of fear from how imposing she was... and yet, he couldn't help but admit that he was attracted to her deep down. His Quirk would activate on her for sure. Still, he resigned himself just to be polite, when...
"[Wait, that costume...]" Her hand moved behind Izuku's neck, pulling up his hero costume's rabbit-like hood. Her eyes jumped from those ears, to his mouthpiece, and back to the ears. "Do you... like All Might?"
He gulped. Did she hate All Might? Maybe a family situation similar to Todoroki? What if she hated him for it? He still had to be honest, but he was bracing for the worst - at least Danger Sense noted no danger coming from her. "Y-Yeah... he's my idol, and I deeply admire him, though it's alright if you don't..."
Her lips contorted into an easygoing smile, as she reached into her shorts' pocket to pull out her dorm keys... from which an All Might keychain dangled down. Not even any All Might keychain, either - a limited edition deal that Izuku himself had gotten years ago. "I love All Might! [Did he save you as a kid, too???]"
"Huh? Ah! That's...! A limited edition Bronze Age All Might keychain from the sale five years ago!!! I have one just like it! So cool! Erm, I mean... [Yes, he saved me from a sludge villain, it made the news back then...]"
"Goop villain kid! I remember. Never knew I'd find another huge fan here! And you're prez too. Feel 1B and 1A will get along, ahh-haah-haah-hah!" Even the laughter was perfectly on point...! "Anything you need, I'm your girl. Saving people with a smile is what All Might would do, and I'm here to be an even greater hero than him! If we end up fighting tomorrow... no hard feelings?"
His expression went from surprised to resolved, as he nodded at her to reassure her it would all remain in good sportsmanship. "Yeah!" As they were leaving the classroom, though, she dropped a bit of a bomb or two on him as her way of saying goodbye.
"Oh, and whenever you're free, feel free to come by our dorms. I'll show you cool poster."
The door closed right after, leaving Izuku a bit dumbfounded. Yaoyorozu gave voice to his first couple of thoughts for him: "Did... she just invite a boy she just met to her dorm room? Maybe that's normal in America... oh my." But his second set of thoughts were more important to him at the moment.
DOES SHE HAVE THE LIMITED EDITION POSTER TOO?!
