Chapter 13 by cortuler cortuler

Do you fix Sully, or do you fuck Sally?

Come clean to Sally.

You barely have time to think of an answer before Sally's mouth crashes into yours and begins devouring it, her tongue crashing forcefully against yours, her hands in your hair. She's... good. She knows exactly where to go, how you like being kissed, the spots to scratch on your head... In this reality, she's known you forever, you've had your sexual awakenings together, you were practically made for each other...

And it's all wrong.

You pull back, gasping for breath, and Sally frowns. "Baby, what's wrong? You're not very into it."

You pant a bit, before coming to a decision. The only right decision. "Sally, I... I have to tell you something. It's important."

She stares at you for a moment and she pulls away, a look of horror on her gorgeous face. "Oh my God, Chase, you did something stupid, didn't you?"

"I didn't— I mean I—" You struggle with your words before soldiering on. "Look, it's the Juicer! The Juicer Max! It's... It's changed you. And it's my fault."

Sally's anguished expression freezes on her, and when she speaks she does so slowly, as though talking to a slow child. "The... Juicer. That's what this is about?"

You groan in frustration. "Look, I know you're not going to believe me, it's completely unbelievable, but the sodas that machine makes, they— they change people. Like... Physically. And mentally. And then everyone forgets how they used to be!"

"Everyone... but you?" Sally continues, an expression of concern on her face.

"Yes! Because both times I gave the drinks!" You say, manic, your words stumbling over each other. "Or maybe because I mixed them? I don't know, but I'm not insane! I can prove it to you!"

Sally regards you carefully, studying your expression, then she shakes her head. "No, you're telling the truth," she says. "Or at least you think you are, but I don't think you're insane, baby. Well, not anymore than usual."

"Hey!" you protest.

"Don't pretend it's not true," Sally says with a dismissive wave. "The drinks change people, and you gave one to Pearl and..."

"To you." you complete the sentence. "But I didn't mean to, the drink was for Pearl, as a prank! Pearl used to have black hair and a more goth look, and you... You were a guy."

Sally looks at you dumbfounded. "A guy? I— Look, Chase, Pearl dressing like the dour downer she is I can believe, if anything it's almost weird she's so pink, but how could I be a guy? You can't just... make up a lifetime of memories from a soda can! Several lifetimes, since the others didn't say anything! And it wouldn't make sense, I mean you're straight, I know you are, so how—"

"We weren't dating, Sally," you cut her off, heart heavy. "You were Sullivan, my best friend. We were at that summer camp, but we wrestled in the mud and promised to be best friends for life. You even had a girlfriend, Indy, the—"

"Stop!" Sally snaps, hand raised. "I don't— I don't want to hear it!" She paces back and forth, agitated, then stops and looks at you, hands trembling and eyes bright with tears. "You mean, all of this? Us? It didn't... It wasn't real?"

"I'm... I'm sorry, Sally." You say. You open your mouth to try to say something else. For the first time in your life, you just don't find the words.

Sally flinches back as though you'd slapped her, and a sob racks her shoulders. The same instinct that made you wrap your arms around her earlier urges you forward, to hold her but she raised a hand. "Don't," she says simply, voice raw and hiding her face from you. "Just... Don't. I need to be alone."

You don't try to stop her as she turns to rush away, leaving you alone in the room with the Juicer Max.

Well shit. What now?
