Class
School is simply a system meant to keep people from true success! It was made by a bunch of wolves who don't want their fellow man to take a piece of the pie! Something I used to go around yelling when I was younger. My mother, Elena, always used to laugh when I stated that opinion; none of us knew where I got it from but I started saying it as soon as I turned ten. I think I might have picked it up after a few too many nights watching late-night television. Honestly, I still believe it ten years later, but the opportunity of an apartment near my girlfriend's university as well as the promise of an interesting social life is something no twenty-year-old can resist. I ended up studying psychology, it was the only thing I felt even slightly interested in; plus, my friends told me that a lot of women flock to that course. Even if it's a cringe reason to join it. I do wonder if I was better off entering some other course.
I've not been studying here for very long, no more than a few months. It took me a while to enlist at the university since I missed the first semester; I also ended up missing the second semester because I got caught up trying to find work, I was too focused on trying to sustain the new apartment. I also had to buy my partner some gifts to be fair. Can't do that while being broke! I got a job working at a gymnastics gym near the university, it paid reasonably well and wasn't too bad on the eyes either. My boss doesn't seem to like me though, maybe it's because he's a fat oaf. Just joking~ I've managed to make a few friends out here who I hang out with every so often, I met them in my class. One of them is a lot like me, just comes and goes. The other two are a bit on our backs about attending, it feels nice to be wanted but I'm not coming in any more than I have to.
After a short walk from my apartment complex over to the campus, I snuck onto a seat next to my friends while the lecturer was talking. Late again mate? Whispers Dan. Classic. Snorts my other friend, Mateo. Jamal isn't here yet, I messaged him but he's not replying; probably still sleeping. I relax whilst sloppily taking notes. Jamal never did show up before the lecture ended. Our lecturer announced a new assignment resulting in the room filling quickly with murmured groans. The lecturer is a woman named Bethany, she's quite the looker but probably the most stern lady I know. Besides the wifey when she's upset. I mutter. What? Says Dan. Nothing, just talking to myself. I say, trying to hide the conversation going on in my head. When the final announcements end, Dan, Mateo, and I head out to grab a bite to eat. I've got some time to kill before the big event so there's no harm in it.
