Chapter 14 - Finale
"Doctor Simpson?" said Doctor John Dean a day or so later in the mental hospital. "Doctor Simpson, can you hear me?"
"Yes, I can hear you," said George.
"Good morning, your daughter Helen suggested that I drop by to speak to you Doctor Simpson. She believes that you badly need some help," John said.
"I don't need any help!" George replied angrily. "I need to get out of here!"
"I'm afraid that won't be possible Doctor Simpson," John said. "You do need lengthy treatment."
"Why do I need treatment?" he asked.
"Because of what you did to Jane," John replied. "You created Jane out of a young man who was beaten up in the street. Then you wanted this Jane to be Helen's double so you could steal all her grandpa's money that he generously left her in his will."
"Daddy I'm worried about your obsession with Jane," Helen said from behind John.
"You don't need to worry about me," George replied angrily. "I knew what I was doing."
Meanwhile unhindered I'd gone into town and I saw Mr Clark and he agreed to give me the 5 million dollars in cash less the quarter of a million dollars he'd already given me.
"Good morning, Mr Clark, I'm sorry for being so late but I had a huge problem with my father yesterday, I do hope you'll understand," I said on shaking hands with the lawyer again.
"Of course, Miss Simpson. Everything is all ready just as you requested," he replied.
"I've just noticed that you have my yellow suitcase all ready," I replied giggling. "How delightful and how thoughtful of you Mr Clark!"
"It's just as you requested," he declared.
"Thank you, so much Mr Clark," I said when he handed over the bright yellow suitcase. "Oh, my goodness it feels quite light for so much money."
"Well, most of it is in thousand-dollar bills. You didn't specify just how you wanted it broken down. We took the liberty of including smaller sized bills too as spending such large bills isn't easy on day-to-day items," he advised. He handed over an envelope containing several thousand dollars in small bills.
"Thank you," I replied. "You've been most kind. In case you are wondering I have my eye on a house and I thought paying by cash would get it faster and more cheaply."
I quickly put the envelope into my clutch bag, and I was about to put on my leather gloves when he asked, "Now Miss Simpson if you'll be so kind to just sign this release form clearing the firm of all responsibility and liability."
"But of course," I replied putting my gloves on the table and picking up the pen with my elegantly manicured hand.
"Thank you," he said after I'd signed it using Helen's usual signature. "Lastly how would you like us to handle this deed of gift for your father?"
"I think in the circumstances given my dad's medical problems we should postpone that gift indefinitely. Please just keep everything in my name for now," I replied.
"Oh, so you've changed your mind?" he asked.
"Regrettably yes. You obviously remembered that I asked you to give the rest of my inheritance to my father. Sadly, the situation has now changed," I declared.
"May I enquire in what way?" he asked.
"My father has unfortunately suffered a mental breakdown and has been committed to the state mental institution for treatment. So, this has obviously led to my change of mind," I replied. "I think it's best left now."
"That's very perfectly understandable Miss. How would you like to proceed now?" he asked.
"Could you pass the rest of my inheritance to my Swiss bank account in Geneva, please?" I asked handing him the account details.
"Thank you, Miss Simpson. I'll arrange for that to happen right away," he declared.
"Thank you for your wonderful understanding, Mr Clark," I said shaking his hand.
"We reckon that you will inherit 51 million 225 thousand dollars after our fee has been paid and all your grandfather's stocks have been sold," he said. "We'll transfer the balance to Geneva later today."
"Thank you so much," I replied. I went outside into the bright sunshine and quickly hailed a taxi. I had Helen's passport in my bag and nearly 5 million dollars in cash in a bright yellow suitcase that matched my yellow floral sundress and matching yellow 4.5" stiletto heels perfectly.
"To the airport please," I said sweetly to the taxi driver who had responded to my hail.
"Yes Miss," he said.
On the way to the airport, I suddenly recalled George's conversation about my sex change when I asked him, "George are you sure that I'm not going to change back to who I was?"
"What do you mean Jane?" he'd replied.
"It's just that I love my new face and body," I'd said to him. "So, I'm not going to change back to the way I was before?"
George had laughed, "No Jane your face and body isn't going to change back now. My work is guaranteed for the rest of your life."
"Bye-bye George and Helen," I said to myself as I boarded the rented private jet that was going to take me over to Europe and my new life. "Switzerland here I come!"
The end.
