Chapter 13: Sister Strikes Back

Ethan Drake’s agonized screams were still echoing outside the gates of Bellevue High, causing the remaining delinquents in the area to visibly shudder.

Sierra was insanely famous at Bellevue High. On any normal day, the guys trying to pursue her could probably line up around the block, and plenty of off-campus troublemakers were always looking for an excuse to get close to her. That final warning strike I’d delivered to Ethan was a message to all of them.

“I don't care who you are!” I called out, tossing the bent iron pipe onto the asphalt. “If you ever bother my sister again, you'd better watch out. I'll make sure you can't walk for a month!”

Although Ethan was furious and unwilling to accept defeat, the situation was completely out of his control. All he could do was glare at me with pure hatred as his underlings helped him limpr away.

“Kid, just you wait!” Ethan spat through grit teeth before fleeing in embarrassment with his gang.

“Damn, man, that was so freaking cool!” Big Greg shouted, waving his massive fists around like he was demonstrating a new boxing combination. He had always hated Ethan’s arrogant bullying, so seeing the senior black belt get dismantled was like an early Christmas. “When are you gonna teach me a couple of those moves?”

I stared at him in complete deadpan silence as he bounced around on the sidewalk. This guy was an absolute riot.

After saying goodbye to Big Greg, I pulled Sierra onto my motor scooter and kicked the engine to life, leaving behind our heavy-set friend who looked on with an expression full of envy.

As we sped down the main avenue, Sierra wrapped her arms tightly around my waist, leaning her head close to my ear as if she were terrified of falling off.

“Little brother... when did you become so good at fighting?” she asked softly.

Even with the cold March wind rushing past us, her soft, sweet fragrance traveled against the breeze and straight into my chest, sending a sudden flutter through my heart.

Damn it!

Why couldn't she just be my real sister?!

I was deeply conflicted inside. If she were actually my biological sister, I wouldn't dare entertain such thoughts even if I had ten times the courage. But she was adopted—we weren't blood-related at all!

Just as my mind was racing, the front tire slammed over a sharp bump in the pavement, tossing us both into the air.

Caught completely off guard, Sierra lost her grip. Her hands slipped from my waist and landed firmly right against my crotch.

My face flushed crimson in an instant.

Sis, please! Don't touch me there!

"Wait... what is this sticking out on the seat?" Sierra asked, genuinely bewildered.

Before I could say a word, she tentatively gave it a light squeeze, only to realize it wasn't a mechanical part of the bike.

A heavy, breathless silence fell between us. Realizing exactly what her hand was resting on, Sierra jerked her hand back as if she'd been burned, her face turning bright red.

"Sis... hold on tight," I stammered, my voice cracking slightly. "The road is rough. You don't want to fall off."

After a long, tense pause, Sierra slowly wrapped her arms back around my waist, pulling herself even closer against my back than before.

Sierra cleared her throat, trying to break the tension.

“By the way, let's go buy you some new clothes,” she suggested softly, pointing toward my jacket.

I looked down and nodded. My school jacket had been ripped in several places during the scrap with Ethan's thugs. If I walked through the front door dressed like a victim of a mugging, Mom would beat me half to death before asking questions.

Then I hesitated. I didn't have much pocket money on me.

Sierra seemed to read my mind instantly and let out a gentle laugh. “Let's head over to the city department store. My treat!”

I grinned. Sierra was the absolute apple of Uncle Marcus's eye, which meant her monthly allowance was practically endless compared to mine.

I turned the scooter toward the commercial center and parked outside the department store. As soon as we walked inside, our head-turning rate skyrocketed. Of course, that was ninety-nine percent thanks to Sierra. With her stunning looks and elegant style, she was the center of attention wherever she went, while I served as the plain background contrast—leaving passersby wondering how an absolute ten ended up walking around next to an average guy like me.

“How do you think this looks?” Sierra asked, holding up a sleek dark denim jacket against my chest.

I wasn't the type of guy who cared much about high fashion. As long as a shirt didn't have holes in it, it was good enough for me, so I simply nodded. “Looks great.”

“Haha, then we're getting this one!” Sierra smiled brightly and pulled out her card to pay.

Just as the cashier was ringing it up, a couple walked past the counter. The woman was somewhat heavy-set, wearing heavy makeup and flashy jewelry. The moment she saw Sierra paying for my jacket, a sneer crossed her face.

“Ugh, look at that,” she scoffed loudly to her partner. “Another useless boy toy living off a rich girl.”

The man beside her was even wider. He cast a condescending glance in my direction, clearly assuming I was some broke slacker relying on a wealthy girlfriend to buy my clothes.

My blood immediately boiled. That's my cousin, you blind idiot! How the hell does that make me a boy toy?!

Before I could even open my mouth to set them straight, Sierra stepped forward, her eyes narrowing with icy calm.

“Excuse me, miss,” Sierra said with a sweet, polite smile that dripped with razor-sharp sarcasm. “It must be pretty tough finding anything that fits when you're that far past the extra-large section, huh?”

I gave her a massive mental standing ovation.

The psychological damage of that single sentence was absolute lethal overkill!
