Changing plans

The thought of not being able to go to the Lodge makes you feel sadder than you had expected. "What am I going to do?" You ask yourself, feeling like you've been cut adrift.

"You can stay with us," Rei offers quickly.

Almost as soon as Rei says the words, Lance gives her a hard look that she seems to ignore, "You can stay with is for a few days," He says firmly, "We've got plenty of supplies right now, you can stay here for four or five days, then we can give you some supplies when you leave. Give you a fair shake."

"But Dad!" Rei says, "We have plenty, she can stay! And she can help us when we need to leave the cabin." Her voice has a pleading quality to it.

"Rei," Lance sighs, "We'll talk about this later." His gaze returns to yours, "You're our guest, and we treat our guests like family." His expression seems to soften, "You're welcome to stay for a few days. If you want to stay longer than that, then we can all set down and talk about it, see if it will work. Fair enough?"

You find yourself nodding, mulling over the possibility of staying. Meanwhile, Rei blurts out, "Thank you Daddy!" Then turns to you, giving you a big hug, "You're going to love it here."
