Chapter 4 by Kingofthefutamonsters Kingofthefutamonsters

What's next?

Centaur.

Basic description: A creature is half human and half other creature. The top half of a centaur for the most part looks like a human from the waist up, except the ears and potentially horns of the creature half. Also where there hips and legs would be is replaced with a different creatures body from the neck down. Horse centaurs are by far the most common and subspecies of centaurs either evolved from horse centaurs or are a cross breed between horse centaurs and a different species of monster. As such unless you are comparing a horse centaur to a different subspecies, you simpley call them centaurs.

Origins: In greek mythology, Ixion was a human king. In this universe he was the god of horses. He lusted for 1 of Zeus's wives, Hera. He would flirt with her when Zeus wasn't around. Hera told Zeus about this, but Zeus didn't know if Hera was misunderstanding the situation or not. So Zeus set up a trap. He transformed a cloud to look like Hera. Then he hid away to see what the god of horses would do to the cloud.

To Zeus's horror not only did Ixion flirt with the Hera double, he took her silece as consent and had sex with the cloud. The rule created by the gods preventing them from harming each other hadn't been implemented yet, so he coukd have killed Ixion right there. However Zeus decided to at least let Ixion finish before killing him. Such a minor god would have no chance in a fair fight against the storm god. However Zeus sneak attacked him and Ixion was tired from fucking the cloud so hard. So the horse god didn't even deal a single blow to Zeus before his ****.

However Ixion's godly sperm managed to impregnate the cloud and 9 months later it rained centaurs all over Olympus. The centaurs didn't attack any of the gods so the gods let them live in peace until the creation of War World. Then they reshaped the centaurs specifically for battle so they may fight and die for the gods petty grievances.

There was a centaur who isn't the son of Ixion, the demi go Chiron but I will talk about him later when we get to subspecies.

Centaur personalitys are just as varied as humans. However they love the taste of wine more then anything. A centaur having a resinable amount of **** is fine, but if they havrle to much they become horny violet brutes. Both males and females have this problem.

Apearance: Horse centaurs have the ears and bottom half of a horse.

Amount in a squad: 60.

Base centaur strengths: Rookie centaurs warriors can run as fast as horse's and unlike horse back riders, there is no risk of being knocked off the horse since the horse in there legs.

They get bonus damage to charge attack.

Since they don't need riders, they can hold more stuff on there horse backs then horse back riders. Most comonly many quivers full of arrows.

There hooves do bonus damage to enemies that are laying on the ground.

Natural skills:

Herbivore: They get all the the nutrients there bodys need from eating plants, but they will get sick if they eat meat.

Eye's of the archer: They do extra damage when using arrows and are more likely to find there launched arrows after a battle.

Horse back archer: They can accurately shoot arrows from a light bow even while moving at the full speed of a horse.

Quick bow: Can quickly switch from using a bow to using a melee wepon and back again in less then a second.

Sky born: They cannot take fall damage, no matter how high up they fall from. Damage caused by lading on someone from high up counts as charge damage.

Monster magic, centaur: All centaurs can learn wind magic and water magic. Centaurs know the Blow spell and the Speed Wind spell even without training.

Spell list:

Blow: Creates a gust of wind coming from anywhere to any direction within line of sight except down. This makes this spell unable to knock down flying enemies. The wind blows hardest closer to the sorce. The wind itself doesn't do damage.

Not that useful of a spell for centaurs since most enemies will fall down after getting rammed into by a squad of centaurs. However an entire squad using this spell at once may be able to knock down the few enemies that wouldn't be knocked down. Also if they are chacing enemys that are faster then them, they can cast this spell in front of there enemies and they will be knocked down so the centaurs can catch up. Not always useful but when it is useful, it's a welcome addition to the arcinal.

Speed Wind: Allows the user to increase there movement speed by 50% for 1 minute.

Always useful for a centaur. Greater speed means more damage from charge attacks and making sure enimes can't reach you while shooting arrows while moving. The better choice to spend mana on over Blow 9 times out of 10.

Recommend gear: Even though rookie centaurs can wear heavy armor, it will slow them down. Reducing charge damage and increasing the odds they will be caught up too while fireing arrows. Lighter armor like leather or gambeson is preferred.

No matter what build you use for your centaurs, being able to increase the duration of the Swift Wind spell will be incredibly useful. Accessories and a off hand wand that increase spell duration would also be very useful.

As for main hand wepons well it depends on the stratagy. The 2 best strategies for using rookie centaurs is either maxing out charge bonus and attacking prone enemy bonus or focusing on shooting arrows while moving.

If using a mix of both, it is recommended that the primary wepon be a lance wile the secondary be a light bow. A lance because it adds to charge bonus damage and the centaur can rely on their hooves to do big damage to prone enemies. Also it's 1 handed so the centaur can hold it and a wand at the same time. Then a light bow instead of a heavy bow since the horse back archer skill only works light bows. As for the horse half, the centaur should hold as many quivers as they can carry without weighing them down.

If you would rather maximize there usefulness as archers, replace the lance and the wand with a staff that also increases the duration of spells since staffs tend to have better effects then wands but require both hands to use.

If you would rather maximize there usefulness as shock cavalry, replace the bow with a war pike. War pikes also do extra damage to enimes that are prone and they do more damage then centaur hooves. However since this is not bow, the quick bow skill won't take affect. So it will take a few moments for the centaur to switch wepons. During this time however, theres nothing stoping the centaur from stomping there prone enemies while they are busy swapping wepons. As for the horse half theres no point in holding quivers if you have no bow. Instead a saddle would be best. Then have a human sized or smaller monster or human ride on the centaur holding a spear to attack enemies to the centaurs sides.

Weaknesses: Centaurs are big, so if they are standing still they are easy targets for ranged enemies. A kick from a centaur can do some real damage so there backs are fine but without a long wepon like a lance or a staff to swing like a club the can't protect there sides. Even with these wepons its hard to protect there sides so don't allow your centaurs to be surrounded.

Horse skin is thicker then human skin, so horse skin covered in armor is more defensive then humans. Also a centaurs human half is just as defendable as a human torso but centaurs have more health then humans. So centaurs are not glass canons, however they are quite fragile compared to other monsters of a similar size. They should avoid direct combat unless the enime is in a helpless position. Even though Blow and Swift Wind have low mana costs, rookie centaurs don't have alot of mana. So unless they are especially trained or over leveled, they are not going to cast more then 2 or 3 times per battle.

Criteria for Promote spell: The rookie centaur solider you wish to promote is level 10 or higher. That centaur needs to know at least 1 water spell. That centaur needs 10 days or more of combat training under a level 50 or greater trainer who specilizes in the stat beinging trained. The monster tamer needs to own a grassland settlement with 100 or more civilian centaurs living there. Those civilian centaur happiness meter needs to be 50% full or greater.

Promote options: Elite centaur solider.

Available subspecies to change into instead of promotion: Shire centaur, deer centaur, donkey centaur and goat centaur.

Do you want to learn more about horse centaurs or centaur subspecies?
