Catch their breath.

After a few seconds of panting, Sam spoke. "What now? Oh, we should probably shower."

"Let's shower together!" Janet suggested, then frowned. "Nah, too crowded. Damn, I have to get used to that." She shook her head to clear it. "Seriously though, that was incredible."

Jake was feeling overwhelmed. Sam stood up and placed a sympathetic hand on his shoulder. "I know it feels like this is too much. It feels like too much to me too, obviously. But we'll get through it."

Janet was trying to process it. She was getting conflicting signals, and the signals themselves were getting muddied by each other. She rubbed her temples. "This is really intense, can we please just take a break from... from thinking?"

Jake frowned, and Sam spoke up. "I'm not sure how to do that other than going to sleep. That said-"

"We're all pretty tired." Janet finished. "I probably would be anyway, but I can feel how tired you two are. So who gets the first shower?"

Jake volunteered, and Sam nodded. "I wonder what it'll feel like when Jake showers. This could be an interesting experiment." Janet nodded. Jake shrugged and went into the bathroom.

Janet and Sam were left alone together for the first time since Janet had arrived. "So," Sam asked, "it's pretty hard to wrap your head around, right? I mean, it's like everything I say is sort of an echo of what's already in your head. It's because you feel my thoughts before I even speak them."

Janet nodded. "Yeah. I'm glad I have someone else around who gets it. I can't imagine going through this on my own. Well, I guess I can, because you can. You said you did some experimentation. Did you figure out- oh, ok, I get it. I'm kind of my own person but all of my thoughts are overwritten by yours." They both looked surprised for a second, then relaxed.

"Ohhh, that feels great." Sam closed her eyes. "Jake must have gotten into the shower. Mmm, that's just what I needed." She sighed, then opened her eyes. "What does this feel like to you?"

"I don't know, relaxing. It doesn't feel like I'm wet or anything. Just this nonspecific sense of relaxation and refreshment. I feel a little more energetic and cleaner." She lifted an arm and smelled herself. "Obviously I'm not actually any cleaner. How about- oh, ok, it's a little more specific for you."

"I'm starting to see how this was irritating to Jake. It's like you interrupt me with my own words. Mm, I feel a little tingle down there. I think he's, ahh, washing his, you know..."

"Dick?" Janet was always a little more comfortable with crude language. "That's funny, I don't really feel anything different. I guess it's pretty watered down by the time it gets to me."

Sam, meanwhile, was blushing. "I think he's out of the shower now. It feels a little cold, and now fuzzy. He must be- oh, hang on." She ran into Jake's room and re-emerged with some clothes.

Janet laughed. "He's such a prude! We just had a sweaty round of mutual masturbation, but I'm completely embarrassed at the thought of seeing him naked."

Sam gently opened the door a crack and passed in some towels, averting her eyes the whole time. After a muffled "thanks" from the other side of the door, she went and sat with Janet. A moment later Jake emerged, his hair still damp.

Sam offered to take the next shower. "Go ahead, I kind of want to talk to Janet solo." Jake told her.

"Yeah, this will be interesting." Janet said. She looked thoughtful. "It's still so surreal. I really can't tell if that was my thought or not. It felt like it came from me. Oh, Sam's gonna need some clothes. She can borrow some of Jake's. Wow, clearly none of that is coming from me." She blushed a little. "Uh, Sam, I think Jake's a little turned on at the thought of you wearing his clothes. Or maybe you are?"

Sam was also blushing. "To be honest, I can't tell either. Mmm, it's a sexy thought though."

After an awkward silence, Janet spoke. "Ugh, I'm getting horny thinking about my sister touching Jake's underwear. Go get in the shower before this gets any weirder."

Sam dutifully complied, leaving Jake and Janet alone in the living room.
