Call Kat

You open up your messages with Kat on your phone, and shoot her a quick text.

YOU: hey kat

YOU: i’m with marcy right now

You see the little ‘read’ indicator show up, and then your phone starts ringing. Your caller ID says it’s Kat.

“Hey Kat,” you sigh, putting your phone up to your ear.

“Where are you?” She replies pointedly.

“Umm,” you say, “We’re sitting outside a sorority house in town.”

“Why?” She sighs.

“We got thrown out just now.”

“Oh my.” She muses.

“It’s not funny.” You say, scowling and wiping away drool. “Marcy’s still passed out right now and I’m trying to get her back to her place.”

“Well,” Kat says, “if you get her back to the dorms I can help you get her up to my room, but you’ll owe me.”

“She’s your friend.” You snap.

“But right now she’s your problem, isn’t she?” Kat shoots back. You look down at Marcy, a puddle of drool on your shoulder, neck covered in hickeys and her dress stained with God knows what.

“Fine,” you sigh.

“Cool,” she replies.

“Do you know anybody that can give us a ride?” You ask.

“On a sunday? I dunno, maybe Lou?” She says.

“I’ll try her then.” You groan, pinching the bridge of your nose.

“Cool, text me when you get here, bye.” Kat states.

“See you soon.” You groan again, eyes closed against the murderous morning light.

“You hope.” Kat chuckles and hangs up. You scowl again at your phone, what a snotty little sister. Mentioning sisters, you scroll down to Lou’s contact in your phone. You chew on the inside of your mouth, feeling anxious. You could always walk, you think.
