Walter vanished into thin air and I really started to question my sanity! I took a seat on the couch where we sat and eventually drifted off to sleep. When I came too the sun was already up, a look at my watch showed me it was just after seven thirty so I went for a quick shower.

After dressing I decided to go to work, but I didn’t want to take a chance of running into Melissa. So instead of going out the front door, I went out the basement door and climbed over the back fence and made my way through the narrow space between the back of a plaza and the fences of the street where I live. Sure it was childish but so wasn’t think I had a talk with a dead person last night after fucking the granddaughter of said dead person.

I was at work for more than two hours when my phone went off. Looking at the screen, there was Melissa’s name and number. I declined the call, then turned my phone off. I wasn’t ready to talk with Melissa this soon. I went back to work and thought I had prevented having to deal with Melissa! Too bad I forgot the store’s switchboard!

It was just about time for the bell signifying time to go home for the day was to sound when I got a call over the company phone. I answered it thinking that the boss wanted something from me. Instead it was Melissa, who asked me if I was ghosting her. I told her that I would drop by on my way home, deciding to go check into one of the two local hotels in town.

I just blew a hundred bucks for two nights but to me it was money well spent! Now I had time to seriously think over everything and no one would ever think to look for me here! At least that was what I thought. Apparently spirits have a way to find anyone, anywhere at any time. As I found out after coming out of the shower! There in front of a darkened TV stood Walter in all his shimmering glory.

“Really Harry, is what I’m asking too much for you to even consider!”

“I...I...I...”

“Oh close your mouth before a fly flies into it!” Then Walter moved over to the bed. took a seat and motioned for me to come over and sit down beside him.

“Look Harry, I understand that normal people can’t see spirits but Melissa was always my favorite relative and you are still my favorite non-relative, so of course you both would be able to see me!” He paused then hit me right in my heart. “And that’s why I thought that you would be the perfect person in the world to show Melissa that there is way better than what she’s been with!”

Great, now not only did i feel an inch high over being with Melissa but all so over what I’ve been putting the spirit of Walter through.
