Business or personal? Both!

You lead the group to the tailor shop, telling them “One overlooked matter is clothing. There are two important matters. One is to get the right clothes for the area. For example, going into swampy areas will rot fabric and wood while metal rusts. Things like leather or hide last longer. For the solid things, like belt buckles and buttons, bone and stone are a good choice.

“The other matter is that although your bodies can heal and repair themselves, your clothing can’t.

“One lesser reasons is to customize your clothing. For example, sometimes rogues get knife belts that go from the shoulder and over the chest. However, they can cause problems if you have any pockets on the chest. Maybe someone has an owl or falcon as a familiar. Since they have sharp claws they may wish to have padding added to their shoulders or arms. Actually, some people get that as a bit of extra protection for fights while wearing fabric clothing.”

The group was shocked. This was something none of them had ever thought of, or found mentioned anywhere!

Going to the door, you lead them in and greeted the man who ran the place and told him “Your place came recommended from an old friend of mine I finally caught up with. She mentioned another acquaintance of ours, Malisi works here.”

He smiled a bit. “No matter the Update, her skills always remain the best around.”

You chuckle “That’s because she started out repairing clothes for the adventurer guild.”

Malisi came out, and you vaguely remember her “Malisi? You might not remember me due to all the Updates, but I’m Garion. We both used to work for the adventurer guild, but I was in the tutorial.”

Malisi gave a sad smile. “I don’t think I can remember you right now, but it nice to see you.”

She looked at the party and nodded. “Nothing of theirs needs repairing, but your clothing does! It is all rags!”

You shrug. “Blame the Gods, I do. I brought them here to show them where to go, and to do a bit of trading.”

The boss was suddenly there listening. “Trade?”

Chuckling. “Yeah. I know you want raw materials, and I am after a sewing kit with multiple colored threads. Teaching them how to learn Skills is part of my job. An example of selling and possibly negotiation is a bonus.”

“What do you have to trade?”

“Before I met them, I killed some rats, getting their pelts among other things. I also got animal bones at the same time. I know you can use the hides for cheap patches on people’s clothing and bones for a range of things ranging from bone needles for wet area sewing kits, buttons and other things, even a bit of decoration.”

You lay them out and the negotiations begin. The result was you get 3 sewing kits, kept two of the rat pelts, got 5 copper and some rags that could be use to patch clothing.

You told Malisi, “I’ll catch up with you latter, but I have a party to teach.”

Turning to the boss “If we come back with animal pelts, or other things to use in clothing, this will be among the first stops I’ll make.”

He smiles back at you friendly. Eh, it’s always a good idea to be on good terms with someone who can bring you profit.

You turn back to the Players and tell them, “It’s time to head out.”

Once outside Jonis asks you “Why 3 sewing kits when 1 would do?”

You smile at him. “1 is for me, and the other 2 are for your party when you realize that you need them! When you get the fabric Crafting Skill, it would be crude for a while. This will actually help boost it.”
