Chapter 3 by D!$N3Y D!$N3Y

Who gains all six of the gems?

Bruce Wayne, aka Batman

I am vengeance. I am the night. I am... Batman!

Gotham City was a cesspool of villainy, ranging from the gangsters on the streets to the super criminals of Arkham Asylum. Only Bruce Wayne, Billionaire, appointed Playboy and owner of Wayne Enterprises can save the city from all evils. As his 'super' alter ego, Batman! He patrolled the rooftops, wearing a tri-weave bodysuit consisting of an outer and inner layer made from a titanium-dipped tri-weave fiber mesh, with a MR-fluid (magnetorheological fluid) based liquid armor system in between (think Arkham Knight batsuit). He grappling distant buildings, pulling up so fast, and swinging like Tarzan in the concrete jungle while keeping an eye on trouble below. All seemed to be at peace until he heard an alarm from the First National Bank. He made his way over to see the culprit(s) of the caper.

He recognized his old dichotomous friend, Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, and he apparently brought the Two Ton Gang with him. "Alright, men," he instructed gruffly, "Bring the $2,000,000. Batman won't be long..." Suddenly, he caught sight of a menacing shadow overcasting him.

"In fact, Dent," Batman retorted, "I'm just in time to help lock you up for 20 years." That was when he had his 4 brutish henchmen rush him. One charged fast, arms out to seize Bats, but was tossed away, the speed and momentum of his run used against him. Another heavily swung his fists, only to have the Dark Knight dodge them all and vault over the wall of muscle with a kick to distance them more. Then the same man and a third both tried to grab him, but Batman darted out from in-between and watched them bash heads. Then a single roundhouse kick knocked them both onto their back. Finally, the last henchmen ran at the hero and was treated to a smokescreen cover. He swung his arms to hit Batman he believed to still be within range. Batman had grappled a street light just as the smoke sprayed out, and swung around it to gain momentum in his kick to the bad guy's head. All that was left was their boss, whom he had turned to see had .44 magnum handguns.

"Eat lead, hero!" he growled aloud, firing both guns at him. Bruce managed to outrun them and threw a Batarang. While it spun quickly for an attack, Dent used a bullet to knock it out of the air; Batman leaped at him, but was dodged in a split second. But he pushed off the floor with his gloved hands, kicking Two-Face into a dizzying spin down onto the street. He groaned as Batman stood in front of him, police sirens wailing in the background as they approached.

"Two for two, Dent. I took down your help, and now you..." Dent reached weakly for him, but then collapsed; Batman's work tonight was done.

After remotely summoning his chariot, Bruce took the Batmobile back home as he drove through the empty of the city he's bound to protect. Lights, trees, and various things all passed by in but a few heartbeats, and after 7 or so minutes at his velocity, a secret opening in a cliff opened and he went right inside with it closing a second later. He switched on the headlights as he came through a large cave: his Batcave. And the etire cave lit up with electric lights, revealing all the technology he had installed to help combat crime and battle the forces of evil (I don't care if it sounds corny. I like it). He drove onto a circular platform and it turned the car around to face a long flight of stairs, which is loyal butler Alfred came down. "Ah, Master Bruce," he said in a happy type of calm attitude. "For once, it seems that your night was almost uneventful. I have just prepared dinner. Whenever you're ready."

"Thank you, Alfred," his master replied, getting out of the driver's seat. "Harvey Dent was trying to make another 'withdrawal' from the bank."

"Again?" Alfred pondered. "But that would have been his second--"

"In two days," Bruce interrupted. "I know, I know."

"Well, thank Heaven that you stopped Two-Face once more." But Alfred's praise wasn't enough to bring Batman out of his funk. "What's wrong?" Batman disengaged his mask to take it off with ease.

"Alfred, no matter how many of these upgrades to my equipment I possess, no matter how many hours I spent to keep in shape... I'm just... Just..."

"You're human, Master Bruce." Alfred leaned over and had his gloved hand on Bruce's shoulder. "But you've trained your mind incredibly well, created delightfully handy gadgets, and sculpted your physique into a combination that has made you a **** to be reckoned with. Even against foes that other men would cower or die from. You cannot doubt your self-worth, or Gotham will follow your thinking..." Batman knew of his accomplishments on his travels: to perfect his entire self, to keep a promise. And so he has, for this long.

How does Batman get the Gems in the first place?
