Breakfast with the parents

The next morning, I wake up pretty late. Not a big surprise, I was up for a very long time last night. I get out of bed and admire Merlan’s white necklace still around my neck. Then I get dressed, making sure to hide Merlan’s necklace under my clothes. Once I am all ready, I head to the kitchen for breakfast. My parents are already awake and waiting for me there.

I look at both of them nervously and I notice that Gwyneth is actually being pretty smug. She reaches under her clothes and pulls out her own black necklace.

“I stayed on the path the whole time and got home without getting caught. My parents were very proud of me for staying a virgin.” Gwyneth says with pride.

“Pfft, lame.” Tiona replies. “I can’t believe you’re actually proud of taking the most boring option.” Then Tiona turns to me and asks, “So, how was your Samhain?”

I reach under my clothes and pull our Merlan’s white necklace, but don’t say a thing.
